The Perfect Child
FIrst of all... JUST VENTING..I'll feel better when I'm done...That said... Sorry, but sometimes I'm just REALLY bothered by all these hypochondriac, overly-sensitive, reactionary parents who freak out when their child does anything slightly strange! Especially those who "see" these beahaviors in an infant!!!! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT CHILD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop trying to force it! Maybe if they'd just relax a little, those of us who ARE a little different wouldn't be made to FEEL so strange. And those who are just SOOOO devastated when their child is diagnosed with MILD TS or OCD...Just because their folks are pushing for a reason that their child id different. THANK YOUR STARS that that's all they have. Because I can just see these poor kids made to feel like they're real freaks when they're not. Or they're overly pampered and cajoled and become insufferable little you-know-whats. Kids will be all right. They don't Know any other way. And you have to be strong for them. The WORST thing for them to see is you freaking out!!! This will make them FEEL weird. If a kid has TS bad enough for you and everyone else to notice it, you'll know it. If it's not that bad and only you notice it because you're with them all the time (or you're LOOKING for something to be wrong) then just LET IT BE! ONLY IF IT BOTHERS THE CHILD should you do anything about it. Otherwise, just wait a little while and I'm sure the other kids will make fun of his clothes or hair or name or eye color or weight or the million other unimportant things that even perfectly normal kids also have to deal with.
