The Pain Moves Around
It's very interesting how the pain moves around to different areas of your body when you have Fibro. My pain issues have been very minimal lately and I'm grateful for each day that I can live life to the fullest in the absence of severe pain. I've had this headache for a few days in my right temple, just above my jaw. It might be the tooth I had re-crowned a couple of months ago, but who knows. The pain crops up about once every couple of months, lasts a few days and then disappears. It started back in August when I was working a VERY stressful job, which thankfully I am no longer a prisoner of. Needless to say, it would seem the pain signals have been established in that area and they get resurrected every now and then. It's strange! I'm usually one to reach for the Ibuprofen and I practically live on that stuff. But I just purchased an herb called Boswellia that is supposed to have anti-inflammatory properties, so we'll test that out today.

I hope your Boswellia does the job for you and your pain will soon subside.
I know I have TMJ along with IBS and these conditions seem to be common with Fibro sufferers. I have nerve/dental pain with the large nerve that runs in the lower jaw. I think it may be the edges of an old crown are pressings down under the gum line or some such thing that triggers the pain. I have to push my thumb in behind my right ear to interrupt the pain signals to the brain. I came on this technique by accident as I was grabbing my face out of desperation when the pain hit so severely and as I dug my thumb into the area behind my ear the pain let up - oh goodness - I was beyond thankful.

Interesting that you too have dental nerve pain, Patricia. How wonderful that you found a technique to interrupt the pain signal! I think the Boswellia is working well so far. I took some as directed throughout the day and by this afternoon the pain in my upper right jaw had stopped. I\'m keeping my fingers crossed! I am also celebrating two weeks without a bad IBS episode. It\'s the small successes that we have to be grateful for. :-)
Hope you\'re feeling much better. I took Imitrex for the migraines, nothing helped enough except deep, restorative sleep that I get with Xyrem. Look into it, good sleep makes all the difference in pain levels.
Thanks for the tip, Abby. I\'m actually lucky in that I sleep fairly well. Maybe that is why my pain isn\'t as bad as some folks with Fibro. I think the Boswellia is working well since the dental nerve pain stopped after about 48 hours. I\'m hoping it won\'t be back.
