The other shoe drops

When I got home last night, I could tell my husband was mad.  He didn't say anything, though, till the kids went to bed. He tried asking me "what I thought was wrong" with our son (if I knew, I wouldn't be getting the assessment!  but I didn't say that...)  Then went on about how "nothing's wrong with him" and "you didn't have brothers, I did & this is how they are"  (really?  2 hours to get ready for school?  20 min to brush teeth? didn't go there either.  Not to mention the particular brother he brought up is on anti-depressants & all sorts of meds).   Then he said how future jobs, the military & colleges will go back into our son's medical history & "find out about" any possible diagnosis.  Of course, I did bring up that HIPPA prevents all that, but he dismissed what I said & said it "wasn't true" and that I was "trying to ruin our son's life."  I said I just wanted answers.   He wanted me to cancel the appointment.  I said no. The whole time, he's yelling at me (I asked him to stop & he said he was going to yell at me!).  And although I felt like my heart was beating hard enough to go out my throat, I kept my cool & held my ground.  I didn't even cry (which surprised me).   So he stomped away & slept in the guest BR (his choice).  This morning neither of us said anything about it.  But really, there's nothing to say. I don't think there's much he can do. I doubt if he'll call in someone else to try to "convince" me, because that'll be dragging someone else in & there's always the danger that they'll agree with me rather than him.  Plus he hates outsiders being in our business (part of why he doesn't want this assessment, though he'd never admit that).  Any other way to try & stop me would involve making phone calls & asking questions & he hates doing that (I'm the caller & questioner in the family). So that's it for now.
