The night is silent for now,I've left my ears out!.
Good morning journal, the time is 5:56am,I have been awake since 4:55am,I am now on my second mug of coffee, and my day is not quite yet begun.I was awakened by our oldest dog, twelve year old Buttons the German short haired pointer, who nudged me with her nose, snuffling in her usual customary manner,to tell me she desired my company.I got up,put my robe and slippers on,turned around, and she was back in bed asleep beside my wife and our two other fur babies. She has pulled the same stunt countless times, and, I fall for it every time,so,rather than fight to get back into bed,and disturb my wife in the process,I headed for the kitchen and made coffee. It is a funny thing to have to describe my deafness as being advantageous over hearing people, but I am coming to realize that, for me anyway,it is.Right now,the night is silent, the reason being is that I have left my ears out,it gives me time to assemble my thoughts, and prepare myself for the day ahead without any distraction from the world around me.The difference being of course,is that when I want to hear,I put them in,and as if by magic,my right ear lets me do so.My left hearing aid is virtually useless because of the damage in my left ear,but it keeps me from looking lop sided, and I derive a lot of amusement when they whistle,it drives our dogs mad and makes my wife laugh;and how I treasure that particular sound.Yesterday was a very pleasant day,I remained calm and I was in control all day,I became tired and went to bed at around 7:30pm.I didn't fight my weariness,I simply took my night medication and went to bed,an easy, relaxed day with a good ending, and that is enough.I played a game of lawn bowls as well,a very British sport where a player rolls four bowls,or woods, towards a smaller yellow ball,or jack, further down the playing field, the winner being the first player to reach a total of twenty one, played over a series of rounds,or ends.I lost twenty two shots to twenty, because there has to be two clear shots between players,so I lost in overtime if you like. Now I have to 'fess up,I played on my computer, courtesy of a wonderful computer game my wife bought for me,hey,it's a start!. I'm also becoming quite a good golfer,(also on computer),which astounds me as I've never played golf in my life for real;perhaps I will be remembered,at least in our home,as an aging Tiger Woods. It keeps me occupied, and stimulates me mentally, and anything that does that is all good. This morning,I am in a little more pain than I was yesterday, but that's okay,I can deal with that,as long as I am on the ball mentally, any physical pain is secondary, even though I would prefer to be pain free obviously. My plan for today?,same as yesterday with the same result will do nicely;of course it may not turn out exactly like that, but as close as I can get to it will do.I'm also very pleased with how my novel is progressing,it's getting there, and again,it stimulates me mentally.I have several medical tests to undergo shortly, eye screening on the twenty seventh of March, more blood tests on the second of April, and am awaiting a date for my ultra sound scan on my pancreas. It is a little daunting, and I am a bit on the scared side, especially about the pancreas result, but there is nothing I can do to change things,so for now,I am concentrating on the present, get through the day I'm living as well as possible, with as little distress to others as I can manage.Well journal, that's it for now,let us hope that my prayers for this day will be answered, and we have a carbon copy of yesterday;until next time,we go forward and, hopefully upward, peace be with us.

Scott, what a wonderful sense of humor you have! How well hidden it was when I first began reading your journal, but now your sense of humor just leaps off the page! It warms my heart to learn the quality of your life is improving on an almost daily basis. Love and hugs to your and your wife, and hug the doggies for me!
Scott, LOL I have never been kicked out of bed by a dog, I won\'t say I haven\'t been kicked, just not by a dog. Your continued positive journal entries are wonderful, and I appreciate them so much. It is such a good thing to see you in a much more positive light. I loved playing golf, and it was one of the 1st activities taken from me when I went into the later stages of COPD. But like you I play computer golf on my XBOX 360 and love it, and in fact am much much well much better than I was in real life. Please keep up the positive entries and take care of yourself. -- Bill
