The Most Beautiful Day
D is now my husband! We had the most wonderful day filled with love and laughter on Saturday, when all thoughts of mRCC were far far away from our minds. I spent the morning decorating the hall with family and friends - lots of fun, transforming a bare old hall into the Butterfly Ballroom just for one night! My aunt brought 500 daffodils from the south, and we had spring flowers everywhere. Love flowed from all corners. Our ceremony was short and sweet, and really very emotional. Our dear friend Alison sang this song:
TOUCH THE AIR SOFTLY
Now touch the air softly, step gently, one, two ...I'll love you till roses are robin's egg blue;I'll love you till gravel is eaten for bread,And lemons are orange, and lavender's red.
Now touch the air softly, swing gently the broom.I'll love you till windows are all of a room; And the table is laid, And the table is bare,And the ceiling reposes on bottomless air.
I'll love you till heaven rips the stars from his coat,And the moon rows away in a glass-bottomed boat; And Orion steps down like a river below,And earth is ablaze, and oceans aglow.
So touch the air softly, and swing the broom high.We will dust the grey mountains, and sweep the blue sky:And I'll love you as long as the furrow the plough,As however is ever, and ever is now,
We also had 'He wishes for the Cloths of Heaven' by WB Yeats, which my sister read, and a piece by Pablo Neruda.
The sun shone throughout, and the babies gurgled, and we all laughed and cried a little.
The party afterwards was marvellous - more music from D's fab band, lots of delicious food - salad for 80 made by me the day before (cucumber fatigue!), and yummy desserts and wine brought by our guests in lieu of presents. We had poems and a quiz, and finished off the night dancing to a Scottish Ceilidh Band.
Such a lot to store in our memory bank. We'll never forget it. Pictures will appear...
Thank you all for your messages of love and blessings. D spoke at our party, saying how the love and support from everyone there, all in their own different ways, was contributing towards his health and happiness, and giving him the conviction that he can carry on. That's how I feel about all of you here.
Much much love from Mrs D! x x x
