The Morning After

Hubs reports that yesterday's custodial hand-off to the other grandparents went without drama. GO TEAM!!! Way to do the do!!! Prayers on-going. Healing hopes for all. No exceptions.

It remains uncertain how long Hubs will be at the Urban Homestead. In addition to his on-site corporate duties this week, he also has bee biz to attend there next week. I encouraged him to consider staying put at the Homestead for both weeks rather than adding another six hours of driving into the flex days. Dunno if he will choose that option, or not. That is his to sort. For sure, the extra demands of the father/child reunion stressed both of us out enough to make the break from him feel especially nice this morning. He's come a long way, but he still has that reflex to snap his supercape at disconcerting intervals. I am not your damsel in distress, Sir Lancelot. Kindly put your shining armor back on its hook.

I dedicated yesterday to rest and clean-up from the visitation week. My anxiety over how the STBX waltz between the parental units will effect the GKs continues, but I believe I am doing well at letting go and letting God. It is not mine to sort. Yesterday morning, amidst the chaos of packing, I asked Daddy if he thought healing had happened for the father/child bond. He answered, "I believe so." Can I ask for more under the current circumstances?

My hope for now is to proceed with the next wave of finishing touches on the Honey Barn. The contract closure for the windows and doors has yet to be scheduled. There are allot of details I could fuss over, but I don't know how fussy I care to get. The challenges of remodeling are far greater than starting from scratch and my casual math guestimates that the contractor profit margin is already far slimmer than is fair to them. Besides. . . If you want a job done right, do it yourself. I believe I can do those finishing touches far better than they can. The pride of ownership counts for quite allot in that equation.

Big Bro continues haunting the job sites. We never got to spend enough time in any of the barns we did our tinkering in to allow us to finish any of our projects. As I imagine the spirit of Big Bro flitting from project to project, I imagine him chanting in amazement, "We got to finish one??? We got to finish one!!!" Just imagining.
