The Mind/Body Work Seems To Be Helping!
I have been working on Dr. Howard Schubiner's Mind/Body program for about a week now. I am exploring some very painful issues from my childhood and also addressing some deep inner fear I have about being financially dependent on my husband. My digestion has been very good for about 9 days now and I have my fingers crossed! The muscle and joint pain is so minimal, I barely notice it these days. I don't want to get too attached to the outcome, but I am determined to get my health back 100%!
I'm focusing more on meditation and yoga, plus I even took a pilates class this evening. Since I've not been working for almost 5 months now, I've been slowly peeling away the stressors recorded in my brain and I really think it translate to fewer physical symptoms. I plan to move full-steam ahead!

This is EXCELLENT!!! To be so proactive is very empowering and will take you to new and very good places. If you slip don\'t feel bad and simply see it as a \'rest stop\' and then continue. It is the minor \'slips\' that can \'catch us\' off guard but if we prepare for them we can recover without long term damage.
The journey is a good one - I\'m so proud of you and the effort you are putting into this.

Thanks, Patricia! I\'m just glad that I found Dr. Schubiner\'s website and that more doctors are starting to examine the mind/body connection with conditions like fibromyalgia and IBS.
I\'ve suffered from anxiety and depression most of my life and in the past, I would cover it up with alcohol or drugs. Taking Paxil for 10 years kept things at bay, but when I decided to strip away all the things covering up the emotional pain, that\'s when my health went down hill. Not only was I trying to live without medication, but I had new stressors in my life that I didn\'t realize contributed to the situation (getting married, leaving a good job in San Diego, moving to a very small town 150 miles away from all my friends). Suddenly I found I could no longer take stress of any kind because it translated into physical symptoms. Now that I can see everything clearly and have adjusted to my new life (I\'ve been in Joshua Tree now for a year), I think recovery is possible. I just hope I can eventually learn to cope with stress through my yoga and meditation. I want to go back to work at some point, but I\'m not going to rush things. I am going to do some volunteering in the meantime. :-)
