the lord challenges

Today I sit and I wonder why the lord puts us though so much, then I remind myself that its his way of reminding us how precious life really is and how we shouldn't take anything for granted.
Friday night I found out that my dad has cancer. We don't have details yet as we meet with his cancer doctor tomorrow morning. My family has been through so many cancer scares and losses that its hard to be positive with this new news. But I have to try to help my parents to be just that. As a good portion of surviving this horrible diagnoses is attitude. Not to mention I am the only child. I know that my world is about to turn upside down. But this man who loves my mother, has loved her since they were in high school....He deserves all I can do for him and the strength that I can give as well. See he's not my biological father but he is the only man who has given his love freely as a father and excepted me as his own daughter.
Today I am prayer harder and being even more thankful for what I do have. I know that the lord has a reason for everything, sometimes I just wish life wasn't so hard.

I am so sorry... That is not good news... I have the same relationship with my step-father... So I truly understand your dynamic in your situation... You are correct, having a positive attitude is everything, but it is okay to collapse from time to time as you help not only him, but your mother... You shall be walking a difficult path... Please feel free to message me anytime... Lila

So sorry to hear about your dad, Shelby. I hope that whatever type of cancer he has is something removable or treatable. I lost my dear mother-in-law to pancreatic cancer and I still miss her all the time. I also lost my 47 year-old brother-in-law to cancer. He was a really nice guy and we miss him very much. His cancer was diagnosed 8 years before he succumbed to is, and most of that 8 years he wasn\'t in any pain and functioned normally. When he passed away, he had been \"ill\" with his disease for about 4 months, but prior to that he\'d been in complete remission for 5 years, so it\'s possible your dad could have a similar remission depending on where the cancer is and what type it is.

My thoughts are with you and your family as you strive to remain strong and positive for your dad and mom.
