The long story

In January of 2014 I  had a severe bleeding episode that took me to the ER for 4 units of blood.   They sent me home and told me to see a doctor,  gave me a prescription to take a high dose birth control taper of Sprintec.  5/4/3/2/1 pills and to skip the week off.   They also gave me a Large does estrogen shot while I was in the ER.   That solved the bleed for 3 weeks and I saw the doctor.. who gave me Another high dose taper when the spotting started.. they did it 3 times until may 30 when they decided to place me on  Provera  a oral progestin tablet.  2 days after the progestin I developed a Superficial vein thrombosis and was told to use hot packs, rest, tylenol and given a antibiotic just in case.    3 days later the bleeding started again so bad I could not move for 3 hours then would taper back.. they upped my provera dosage and had me come in for a Depo shot.   on the 13th of june I was sent to the ER because my hemoglobin was down to 7,  I was bleeding.  They did a Ultra sound and discovered the Estrogen based pills had caused a multitude of uterine fibroids to grow but the doctor did not think they were my problem  and sent me home. With yet another High dose taper of sprintec to stop the bleeding.  Two days later I saw my doctor who admitted me at once for 3 units of blood,  and a ultrasound of my legs.  I had a DVT on the left and a SVT on the right.   they ordered a cat scan because I was out of breath and found multiple PE's in my right lung in all lobes. Heparin was started as well as lovenox to prevent more clots..  The question became, continue the hormones which kept me from bleeding to death, but caused the clots.  Or use anticoagulant therapy and risk me bleeding to death.    after three days they installed a Inferior vena cava filter because the doctor was worried I would throw more clots.  The fibroids were found to be both a symptom and the cause of the bleeding.  A uterine embolism of the fibroids was done and hormones were stopped.  and I was bridged onto warfarin.        that was 3 days ago my INR is 2.8 while taking 5mg and holding steady..  Hopefully this is a 6 month course of meds to outlast the depo shot they gave me.
