The Long Process of Waiting
It is so frustrating waiting and waiting but today I actually got to take a step. Almost 3 weeks of waiting after the initial paperwork was put in at the information session I got a call today to schedule my consultation appointment. It is scheduled for June 9th, unfortunately after a 12-hour night shift but it was that or wait an additional 2 weeks for the next available appointment. Remembering that the last shot at this took a full year to get insurance approval made me take the earlier appointment and just suffer the lack of sleep.
Being in a holding pattern has really taken its toll. I feel frozen in place. I know that a lot of the approval is based on my weight at the time of my initial consultation appointment so I didn't want to lose a bunch of weight before the appointment that didn't count then hit a plateau when I needed to show loss. So instead of just keeping my weight where it was the anxiety of waiting has put more pounds on and I'm almost 10lbs heavier than I was 3 weeks ago. I just need to get this show on the road and start making actual progress to a slimmer life before I anxiety eat my way over 300lbs.
Just a few more weeks to my consultation, then I can start moving forward...I hope!

Hi! My consultation is June 3rd. I feel the same way. The waiting is very difficult. Do you meet with the nutritionist at the consultation? Is surgery scheduled after consultation? I was wondering if you had the answers to my questions. Thanks!
For our bariatric group we don\'t meet with the nutritionist until we are ready for the pre-op diet. All pre-op requirements are complete, insurance approval complete, and a date set. When we meet with the nutritionist depends on our BMI. BMI of 40-49% meets 2 weeks before surgery, BMI 50-59% meets 4 weeks before surgery and 60%+ meets 6 weeks before surgery.
