The frequency of symptoms associated with sleep apnea was assessed in all children 97% of the children in those small villages. The most common symptoms included nighttime awakenings, habitual snoring, repetitive movements during sleep, nasal congestion, and sore throat. After implementation of improved stoves in the homes, snoring (52.5% vs. 18.2%, P? vs. 5.5% P? presents many challenges as there is no specific therapy for TEN, and patients often require the expertise of burn units. We report a child who survived TEN with multisystem involvement including the rare but life threatening occurrence of a pulmonary air-leak syndrome while also reviewing controversies surrounding TEN's pathophysiology, sequelae, and multidisciplinary approach to management. ""Herein we describe three infants with the rare presentation of pneumonia with septic shock as their initial medical encounter leading to the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis (CF). At the time of their presentation all three children had significant nutritional deficiency. We initiated an aggressive treatment regimen including nutritional supplementation which resulted in improvement in their pulmonary status and no further recurrences. This series highlights the possible presentation of CF in infancy as a life-threatening invasive infection of Staphylococcus aureus or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also supports neonatal screening and emphasizes the role of early attention to nutritional status and vitamin supplementation. Pediatr Pulmonol. 2012; 47:722C726. ? 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ""Pulmonary disease contributes to significant morbidity and mortality in people with ataxia telangiectasia (A-T).
