The Leaked Secret to Indoor Playground Discovered
If you reside in a place like we do in Western New York (we are in Rochester!) With superbly warm summers and cold snowy winters, you will know your options for your child's birthday celebration are largely dependent on the weather.
As an August baby, we constantly had little family parties out at my house. But, with sons born in November and March, we're always left to book an indoor venue for their celebrations, if we chose to have them that year. While those with children with summer birthdays might appear lucky to have numerous options at their disposal, it may also often feel overwhelming.
While at Climbing Vines Cafe and Play we may be biased because we sponsor indoor celebrations, I wished to discuss with you the 5 most common reasons we hear from past party customers to reserve indoor summer birthdays with us. To these, the stress-free temperament of the indoor summertime celebration is really a no-brainer, plus they're not looking back! Following their initial indoor summer celebration , they continue hosting with us year after year.
1) NO WEATHER WORRIES
The most common reason for a customer to book a summer indoor celebration with us is they do not have to stem the weather prediction for upgrades in the weeks leading up to the celebration. Nothing can derail a pleasure party quicker than having to cram all your visitors inside your house, waiting for a storm to pass. And if you've ever had to cancel or postpone your child's birthday because of weather, you know how heartbreaking that can be.
We get dozens of calls every summer a couple of days before someone's outdoor celebration is supposed to happen to find out if we have an open slot for them in our indoor party place due to weather woes. We can usually pull off this if the spot is open, but hosts will sadly have to scramble and let all of their guests know of the change in place and likely change in time, and change all of their catering requests to accommodate their new party plan.
While of course rain is most likely the biggest obstacle you may face, intense heat, unseasonably cool weather, and end may also pose problems for your decorations, food, along with your guests' belongings. You will likely end up investing in a tent or some other weather barrier simply to ease your mind somewhat, which are costly and require a great deal of precious time to prepare and take down. I will not even tell the story of this time my Dad set a tent up for a celebration in a windstorm and ended up with a insurance claim for 4 damaged cars when it withdrew (weights and anchors and all!) ...
2) CHANGING IT UP
Besides the obvious weather concerns you can avoid with a indoor celebration, there may also just be something really straightforward and lovely about an indoor summer party. Guests will not need to worry about bringing sunscreen and towels and sunglasses and swimsuits and changes of clothing and bug spray... you get the picture.
Sometimes it's nice to take a short break in the outdoors, sip coffee in an air-conditioned cafe, and have an actual conversation with other adults while the children play, rather than chasing kids around attempting to receive their hat on them keeping them away from your in-ground pool. I'm not sure about you, but I could never really relax at an outdoor summer birthday party with a two and a 4 year-old. While they sure do have a fantastic time running around, we typically leave in a daze or with a tantrum, unsure whether we even had time to talk or check in with everybody.
While I absolutely love a fantastic barbecue or summer grilling extravaganza, I also find it refreshing when we can take a break from the same-old backyard bash and spend a few hours in a relaxing, cool, and most importantly-- included! -- air.
It's also freeing as a guest to have the remainder of the day to do as we want as a family, not need to worry about getting the children into a bath immediately after the party or stopping home to cool off and change clothes.
I promise that if you reserve an indoor celebration for your child, guests (particularly family) may appear a bit confused at first (why not just take advantage of the summer weather while we can, right?) But after hosting countless indoor parties I will tell you for certain that on the day-of, you and your guests will realize how nice it is to kick back in an air-conditioned private celebration for a couple hours.
Speaking of how relaxing a indoor, air-conditioned party could be, can we talk about food for a moment? Not only are food options limited with an outdoor party because of heat, but it can be difficult to keep food covered and retain the bugs, bees, and other debris away.
Right now, my sweet 4 year old boy is terrified of bees, and also the quickest way to send him into a tailspin is for him to sit down to eat a cupcake or his meal and have bees swarming around. Therefore, for our loved ones, the food factor alone could be sufficient to justify an indoor celebration.
Eating in peace without needing to find shade or a chair or a location away from bugs is one of those things you don't realize can be so glorious before you attend your fourth or fifth outside summer gathering and after that get a rest from them. One of the most common things we hear is how nice it is to sit and eat and watch the kiddos play with no any venue-related cares or worries. This is going to be particularly important if you're going to be having older family members attend who can battle with being mobile in the grass or mud and locating seating at outside parties.
Plus, when was the last time you attended an outdoor summer party with a complete espresso bar and cafe available for guests to enjoy now that they don't need to be concerned about running around chasing their kids in the heat?
While celebration aesthetic may not be a determining factor for every household, it sure is much easier to create a themed extravaganza that lighting a child's face up as soon as the party's inside. The decorations required tend to be less since the area is smaller and contained contained, and you won't need to worry about balloons and streamers blowing about or procuring table covers down.
Since we do host mobile events outside in Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, I will also speak from experience when I say the time it takes to install (and take down!) Decorations for an outside party compared to an indoor party usually ends up being double. Finding good places to hang banner, requiring two people to hold and secure everything, and locating weights or other restraints for everything can be a genuine hassle on party day.
And you will have enough to worry about this afternoon, right?
Furthermore, if your pinterest planks are full of cute centerpieces, a candy bar, or anything which could possibly be impacted by wind (or bring bees!) You will likely have to restrategize to get an outdoor soiree.
And of course decor typically can only be utilized once if used outside, but repurposed again and again if used for an indoor event. Our guests who host indoor occasions, notably those who spent significant money into decoration or labored hard to create their own, are very happy to find they can usually create a large chunk of the money back by reselling their materials on something such as Facebook Marketplace.
Speaking of cash, probably the biggest misconception I hear from customers is they wish to host a party at their home to save the leasing fee of an indoor space. I generally laugh at this because it makes perfect sense, that is, if you have never hosted an outside celebration.
With all the"extras" such as tents, seat rentals, additional decorations, weather reinforcements, cleanup supplies, games and activities for the kids (that you won't need to supply at a play area!) , pool toys, etc.... It's very likely that you will end up spending MUCH more hosting a party at your house or an outdoor venue than you would indoors.
I'm not sure how other indoor spaces handle their supplies, but we just charge guests to get additional beverages and provides and such on the day of the celebration should they end up needing themand we also allow parties to attract in their OWN meals, dessert, and decor if they choose!
Money aside, spending countless hours cleaning before, during, and following the celebration may also have a toll. Would not it be nice to walk into a sparkling clean space and leave with your guests once the party's over, not needing to worry about the clean-up, garbage removal, tent teardown, etc?
You can just head home and unwind with your family (yes, possibly outside!)
Along with the time spent cleaning prior to and after the celebration, wouldn't it ALSO be nice to not have to play"server" during the event? For clients that bring in their own food and decor, our committed celebration assistants set everything up, refill and fix food and drinks as needed, clear plates, cut and serve the cake, and pack up all of the leftovers in the end of the celebration!
After all, it's your child's special day and you want to spend those valuable hours making memories and visiting along with your guests-- not running around chasing your decorations or refilling the fruit bowl countless times.
So save everyone (and especially your own family!) Plenty of stress, time, www.amusementcity.net and worry by booking your event with us this summer. We would be honored to offer you an easy, enjoyable experience that will leave your whole guest list feeling refreshed, grateful, and full of love after spending a relaxing (yet fun-filled!) day together.
