The Last Project
The last project Big Brother and I attempted to work together was the rebuilding of a 1971 Oldsmobile. It was the vehicle the FIL had bought my husband before we met. I canae remember why it was till taking up room in the suburban tract house we were renting on the MIL/Fill plan. Nor can I remember the grown-up details of how Big Brother and I decided to rebuild it. I believe the facts are available, but for now, I donae much care.
The dominant flashback image for the abrupt, abandon all tools immediatly ending of the project is Hubs standing in the door of the garage with our youngest son on his hip. YS (33rd birthday in a few weeks) was still an infant. Hubs was still pretty studly. His atheletic training showed in the body language. I still donae know if the scowl is part of his atheletic training, or knot. I have seen the scowl on many atheles, but I donae know if it is *just* coincidence.
Nor can I remember how long it took Big Brother to clear the property. I am so sorry that happened to you, Big Brother, despite the fact that you were so unbalanced that my support dog growled any time you approached the baby. You were admirably respectful of the dog's warning. The dog appreciated the respect. I was in communication with your wife. We were praying for you to, ". . .lose the trapped feeling." I greatly admired your wife's wisdom in the attempt. I think Harry Chapin wrote a song about you two. "Shooting Star." Well. . . I am willing to bet dollars to wishes that Harry doesn't mind letting me think so.

No, I havenae called Big Brother's wife to offer grief platitudes. I donae know, I only believe that she already knows. She is the seventh sister, after all.
oh, arfie, i'm so sorry for your loss
Fact check:
The Seventh Sister mythology by which I teased Big Brother's wife has nothing to do with Darth Vader. Actual mythology still not identified.
I can't imagine Big Brother's wife being opposed to letting me get creative on that score.
Fact:
I have 5 blood sisters. One of the few places all 6 blood sisters agree is that our family court would have divorced Big Brother quicker than we would have divorced the seventh sister. I amnae certain when they married, nor can I remember when or how I met her. Restaurant work, maybe? I introduced her to Big Brother in 1971 or 1972. She was an Army brat who had been abandoned by her parents the day after she graduated HS.
Note to self: Simplify/verify last fact.
The steel toe soft wrap is done to my satisfaction, but I havenae even worked at finding the focus to prep my truck for the northward trek. Donae see a reason to force it. There are no eviction squads in the compound driveway. No hurry demanded. I am emotionally drained and in need of rest, guit-chi, therapy exercises, etcetera, etceteri. Currently watching "P.S. I Love You" for the umpteenth time and pondering it's view of the grieving process.
Through the window at the foot of the couch from where I am watching, I find myself visualizing two childish heads, barely discernible through the feral herbs and grasses at the edge of the compound courtyard. They are hiding behind a kid-sized, hand dug wall at the end of the trench which drains wash water and rain runoff from the dairy barn and cattle runs. My guess is that somebody attempted to hand dig a stock pond there. Another hand dug wall sits at a viable spot to place a pond retainer wall. The work of another pair of country trash kids? Not sure those facts are available. For sure, it is the likely spot on this particular property that Big Bro and I would have chosen to watch the caddy proceedings, with or without the eviction squad.
