The Last PPT & My Own Silliness
First up: the last PPT--thank goodness--was yesterday. No trauma, no issues; just the normal "this is where DS is & what he needs to do to graduate." So: no surprises. He just needs to do what he needs to do. On the way there, I was pretty nervous, working on steady breathing, calming. And I thought to myself: "I should really try decaf!" (to try to make myself laugh it off). Texted my good friend to pray & she did.
Now, onto my silliness. I say that because really, I need to get over myself sometimes! Here is what happened: my youngest sister (let's call her "NS" for "nice sister") went overseas on vacation. While she was gone, it was Mean Sister's birthday ("MS"). So NS posts on MS's Facebook "happy birthday" and that she'll be sending her a package with treats from overseas.
So I start feeling rejected by NS. Not that I'm looking for presents or anything, but I felt why does MS rate & I don't? I felt very excluded, and I had a major pity party.
I was mostly "over it" (more on that later), when I got a FB message yesterday from NS saying to expect a package from her! (which I happened to receive last night) Boy, did I feel stupid! (Good thing I didn't say anything!)
Anyway, back to "getting over it." Growing up, I never really felt accepted by my parents, but the good thing was that when I became a Christian, I had the best Parent ever--and that made up for any of their short-comings! Now, I also have that to an extent with my extended church family: where my own family falls short, the church family (for the most part) does not. And not only that, I've discovered another "family" where I'm heard & accepted: my genealogy family! Granted, many are only on-line (till I meet them one of these days!), but the community is really great. And: after I'd gone to my genealogy society meeting 2 weekends ago & met the speaker in person (we've communicated on Twitter), she friended me on FB...I was really flattered!
So anyway, the point is: I have plenty of good "brothers & sisters" out there & don't need to pout over what my blood relatives do or don't do!
