The Last Day of October

A beautiful, sunny, breezy autumn day...quite an improvement from earlier this week. The leaves are finally starting to change colors...I think this may be the "peak" weekend for the foliage.I am still unable to ride my horses and am still doing Physical Therapy three times a week to try to recover from my fall on Labor Day. I was really depressed about it the last two weeks...I hung on to this little farm with my fingernails all through the process of divorce...why? So I could keep my horses! Now this happens and I can't ride anyway. But I have been working at some improvement projects despite my physical limitations and the place is looking great! We had a little Halloween party today at my work; just about everyone came in costume -- even the big boss! -- and we had a pot luck lunch to die for. I made a big crock pot of my Not Yet Famous Chili and there is barely enough left to cover the bottom of the pot. I think I might enter it in a local chili cook-off next year. This is going to be a busy weekend. Tom will be cooking at his church supper tomorrow -- turkey, oysters and ham -- my cousins and I are going up tomorrow afternoon to eat and then I will come home with Tom. He is such a great guy and he just loves participating in activities with his church family. They are a really good group -- it is a small rural church in Washington County where Tom lived for 5 years. Then on Sunday, we will be driving over to Dulles Airport to pick up Tom's mother who is returning from a 3-week trip to Armenia. She is a real fireball -- at 88 years old, she still takes these long trips to exotic locations once a year. I hope I have her strength when I get that old.On Sunday evening, we are meeting Tom's boss and wife (they are also friends) for dinner in Hagerstown. Sounds like a full day to me. Sitting in the car for extended periods isn't real easy for me these days, but we will have to get out and walk at the airport so maybe I will be ok.Well, that's it for today. I have tried to keep up with all the discussions on DS this week and hope I will be able to continue as we get closer to the holidays. To all of my DS friends who are going through difficult times, please know that even when I can't get to the boards and send personal hugs or support, I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.Have a wonderful weekend all of you!
