The Lady and the Statue!

As most of you now, I do alot of selling on Ebay and Amazon..  It's the only income I have.  I sell mostly wood for home crafters but I will usually sell anything I can make a dollar on.
This is something that happened to me a few years ago which tugged at my heartstrings!  I sometimes go back and revisit it in my mind because it was overwelming to be involved with someones dying wish!
I asked my wife one day, if she had any junk she wanted me to sell for her. She picked up a porcelain statue that had been sitting on the fireplace mantel for years!  She said, "you can sell this if you want"! So I took a picture of it and listed it for $10.  The listing went 7 days without a sale so I relisted and again no sale.  I think I listed it a third time and again it didn't sell.  So I left it in my unsold folder.
Many months went by and this lady statue, called "The Pink Lady", came to mind for some reason so I relisted it and lowered the price a little thinking it might sell, this time.
I received an email from this lady who worked as a lawyer in Oklahoma. She wanted to buy this statue and wanted it shipped to her mom in California asap! She said her mother spent twenty years looking for "the Pink Lady Statue"!  She had the mate to it called "The Blue Boy" which I had no idea existed!
She explained, her mom was dying of cancer which was the reason for the rush!  I gave her a price for overnite shipping and she paid me immediately. Being a fragile item, I packaged it extremely well and hand delivered it to UPS!  I actually underestimated the shipping costs but I wasn't concerned. It seemed like I was on a mission from some Higher Power! Money did not matter!
I went about my daily business but had haunting thoughts about this poor woman and her daughter.  Several months had passed and, although it was none of my business, I took and chance and sent an email to this customer and inquired about how her mom was doing.
I received, in return, her last correspondance!
Pinkie!
"I just wanted to let you know that I went back to see my mom in California last week.  She held "Pinkie" and her "Blue Boy" for a long time.   She said "They'll never be apart again!"  Then of course, they got too heavy and I had to take them.  But I wanted you to know that she absolutely loved her "Pinkie" and was very happy to get her.  She really is a perfect match to the Blue Boy.
My mom actually had a bit of a rally during the holiday week, but she's now in the steady decline (or "shutdown") of end-stage cancer patients.   While she is now bedfast, she's not in any pain, but she is keenly aware of her loss of independence and dignity.  That's the part that is so hard for me to see and know.  Otherwise, we are taking comfort in knowing her eternity is certain.
Anyway, thank you so very much again for your superb handling of our transaction, and especially your kind thoughts and prayers.  I'll be checking E-Bay again for your offerings.  God bless"

This made me think, aren't we al just instruments of a Higher Power? Of a Higher Love? One that is pure and perfect?  Don't we strive every day to be closer to that perfection because therein lies true happiness! Lasting happiness!

I am content in knowing I made a dying woman happy not for a short time but for an eternity!

God Bless and TC!
