The Junior Prom
My daughter went to the junior/senior prom tonight. She came home having fought with a friend, not wanting to see the friend etcI feel like I should mediate and make it better somehow but I cannot. This one is true teenage drama and makes me realize how different my daughter's and my personalities are. They talk about a Taurus being stubborn but that Capricorn of mine is way more stubborn than I am! LOL
My own junior prom kind of sucked, too, but for completely different reasons. I was not in fight with my friends, although I had teen drama then. The boy I liked only liked me "as a friend" and even though everyone thought he was going to ask me to prom, he did not. I felt horrible. I was pissed off at him for asking his former classmate at another school to our prom with our friends. Dickhead move. But I went to prom with an acquaintance and ate an uncomfortable dinner at my friend's date's house (he was my friend, too, but anyway). I danced weird and was stared at. But I did not have drama with my girlfriends. We were there to have fun. We did not do a lot of judging and griping about each other's behavior. I did not take my friends' behavior as a personal affront to me, unless it was.
But we all deal with our emotions differently. I guess I've taught my daughter to hold onto the frustration until she explodes. :-( I don't want to explode and I don't want her to explode, either.I was not the best mom. I should have just listened and comforted, not tried to see both sides or help my daughter forgive her friend. Still, it's the peacemaker in me. I don't want people to be sad, afraid, or otherwise unhappy. I want my daughter to keep her friends and not lose them to petty disagreements and my daughter tending towards being judgmental.
Tomorrow is Mother's Day. I'm not bawling which is good. I miss my mom which stinks, but at least I had a mom who was good to me and loved me. She was not perfect, as none of us are, but she worked hard and loved me in spite of myself.
I plan to just hang out here tomorrow, maybe go to breakfast? I don't know. I am sure Tony and I will only go out to eat if it's just the two of us. Not another replay of last week's debacle, please!
I miss my mom. I ache and long for her to be here in the present, even if it's just to make gravy on Thanksgiving since my gravy stinks. I want to hear her voice and talk for a long while. Mom and I talked about so many things.
So, happy Mother's day to the mothers out there. This Mama need to go to bed.DD

Haha, I\'m a Capricorn myself! I understand your difficulties. ;) I see your journal entries at the bottom of the group page a lot, and I just decided to check in on you and say hello.
Happy Mother\'s Day to you! You\'re not perfect, but no one is. Every kid has to have their teenage dramas, no matter how silly, and you unfortunately can\'t always make it easier. But I know you love your daughter, and that she\'ll grow up and use that stubbornness for something awesome that helps her succeed and be happy. Sure, it\'ll probably get in her way as least as often as it helps her, but she\'ll get there. :)
I\'m sorry you don\'t have your mom to talk to anymore; my mom is dealing with her first Mother\'s Day without her own mom, herself, and I know it\'s hard. I hope you have a good day, nonetheless, and that the teen drama cools down enough for you to relax a bit, LOL. ;)
Thank you!! :-)
