The Journey Begins
Today, I go into Manhattan for pre-surgical testing. Hopefully the last step prior to LVRS on 1/29/14. I hope to keep a running account of my experiences here in my journal. I am a little nervous, afraid that they will find some reason not to do the surgery. My weight, 155 has been an issue before. I am only 4'11". I was loosing weight but it seems one of the few pleasures left is food. Ray, my husband is a terrific cook. I got him a laptop for Christmas and he found a website dedicated to the area his people are from with the recipies. Needless to say, we have been eating very well (not helping my weight) but very comforting.

I am so glad that you\'ve been accepted for the LVRS. I am anxious to read your journal after your procedure. The best of luck to you and hopefully it\'ll turn your life around.
I too was recommended by my pulmo for LVRS in October of this year after a severe bout of pneumonia that put me in the hospital for 15 days and ended my 28 year career very abruptly! Sux! Anyway, I volunteered for a Lung Volume Reduction Coil through on of the replies made on our group sight and I\'ve been accepted and will have my first Dr appointment on Jan 28th in Boston. Everything is free and they even reimburse my travel expenses. Its a non-evasive procedure and the results are tremendous.
We\'ll need to compare notes after our procedures and with the grace of God we will at least get back part of our life that has been lost these last years.

My name is Pat, not Vickie. Anyway, the date for the surgery was pushed back a week because the surgeon is going out of town. New date is 2/5/14. I have heard about the coils and I am glad you are in the program. I\'ll keep you posted.
