The Inquest

Well, this is it.  10 1/2 months after he died, they finally got round to doing Gareth's inquest.  The most upsetting thing for me is that he ended up living about 1/4 of a mile away from me and I didn't even know.  I'm still blaming myself in a way...I know I shouldn't but it's hard to shake of the feeling of 'what if'... Still can't believe it...it hasn't sunk in yet, still isn't real.  I still miss him so much, which might sound contradictory as I didn't see him, but I think about him every day.  This is the news report from the local paper.  Man died in telephone boxA young man died in a Northampton phone box after a long battle with alcohol addiction.Gareth Weaver, aged 28, formerly of St George's Street, in Northampton town centre was confirmed dead by a paramedic after being found in a phone box in Lorne Road, The Mounts, on October 15 last year.An inquest at Northampton General Hospital yesterday heard that the day before his death, Mr Weaver had been admitted to hospital twice after being found collapsed in the street as a result of drinking too much alcohol.From February 2007, Mr Weaver was treated by Northamptonshire Drug and Alcohol Services and spent time in a rehabilitation centre in the town but was unable to stop drinking.The inquest heard from Dennis Weaver, Gareth's father, who said his son went to Roade School Sports College, studied sports therapy at Northampton College and then worked in customer and public relations.The 28-year-old had to have time off work after he was diagnosed with pancreatitis at the end of 2006, and was evicted from his home in Penfold Lane, Great Billing in February 2007.County coroner Anne Pember said: "This was a young man of 28 years of age who really should have had his whole life ahead of him."Sadly he had this drink problem which he did try to kick it but was unable to."She recorded a verdict of accidental death.
