The Human Part

I read over my last journal and once again am not quite as dedicated as I would like. I have had some slips but realize I am human (dammit. If only I were Wonder Woman!  lol) So again I will pick myself up and keep on plugging.

Went to see Sis with my cousin yesterday. She was so happy to see us and was ok for awhile. We stayed while she had lunch but were noit too successful in getting her to eat much. She did of course finish her pumpkin cake for dessert. We stayed with her longer than we thought especially considering we had to wear masks since someone on another part of her wing has covid. Combine the fact we had to try to breathe with the damn masks but she had on channel 6 so Vickie and are were also tortured with listening to The View (which neither of us can stand.)  We did get caught up in conversation as much as we could but did get drawn into that a bit.

There were moments when it looked like my sister was trying to get out the words she was thinking.. She did say she hoped the kids would come see her  (and it turns out they did last night) and before we were getting ready to go she looked at us and asked, How do we get out of this place?  She did get teary when I had to explain that it was better for her to stay there a little while longer.  She made friends with 3 other ladies at their table but with covid, they are all  encouraged to stay in their rooms so again she is cut off. The good thing is that while we were there an elderly gentleman tucked his head in to say hello and she lit up and wanted a hug. Turns out he is the hubby of one of her new dinner partners.

It breaks my heart to see her look so distant into space but am thankful thar she has friends and family who do try to visit and cheer her up.

First time visit with an endocrinologist tomorrow morning so a little worried about that too. I know it is something long overdue.  I am just so embartassed that I have gotten myself into such a state (with the weight and now trying to regulate the sugar)  I can use all the positive thoughts I can get.

Thanks, Kim

Sending positive thoughts your way for your appointment tomorrow.
I’m glad you had a nice visit with your sister, I can only imagine how hard it is to see her in the condition she is in, but she is in a place that can care for her.
We are only human and because of that we slip, but you are continuing to try and that right there is a success. Never give up. Believe me I know how hard it can be.
You have my support. Sending positive vibes and hugs your way.

I regularly journal, or likely that would be more of a log to stay in healthy ranges on intake and exercise and other points of concern.

A number of things have put me out of that routine and I'm just getting back into that, with my own bits of discouragement at having to backtrack with some greater emphasis on goals I had met and kept up with a long time but now need to revisit. Our minds and physical processes don't operate exactly the same through our life spans, so none of us are set an easy task. But little changes we keep at do add up over time, and getting the best advice you can from the endocrinologist (and often making use of a nutritionist or PT or other exercise specialist or group support with endocrinologist referrals) can add needed support.

Knowing that you are dealing with tougher things than me in this season encouraged me to do this evenings stat. bicycle workout (which I have missed for the last several months) in your honor, and make sure that is logged along with today's nutrition goals and intake. Thinking to do the same the rest of the week per the old schedule, and let you know that your openness helped me be more open, too, and gave me the gift of encouraging someone who has encouraged me plenty of times in the past and deserves thanking. Let's see how that goes. Hoping that you have a great connection with this endocrinologist and get very useful information and ideas to be impacting your health and comfort positively and using the best available supports.

Good for You!!!
