The Hourglass
Faster and fasterSpills the hourglassAs I wait for himNo longer a childYet eternally my childBecoming the man I always dreamed he wouldAs he signs the papers That will take him awayTo far off placesWhere I can not followAs I watch him run Headlong into lifeI know the hourglasswill not stopEven if I wanted it toBut couldn't it justSlow down for a moment? Written yesterday while I was waiting for James to come back from the recruiter's office.

Wow. You\'ve really captured the angst a parent feels when they are in this kind of a situation. I remember writing a poem when Anna was at an audition in NYC and I was waiting for her at a Starbucks. Such pain and such joy...from birth until!!!
