The Holiday Season

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - 6:35 PM  This is turning out to be another strange week.  Today it was 70°, tonight we are supposed to have snow showers, and tomorrow night, it will be 18°.  Mother Nature is still playing games with us since it is not supposed to be winter until December 21.   In keeping with the spirit of the season, my brother, one of his daughters, and one of his grandsons, are coming down on Saturday morning to put up a Christmas tree for me.  It will be a live, good smelling, Pine.    Although I consider it to be somewhat early in the season to be putting up Christmas trees, my brother says it has to be done now because next week he is going to have some surgery.  That does not leave me many, if any, options.   I have not been in the best of moods this week.  The holiday season has already put me into a "down" mood.  I keep having many memories of the past when I was a child during the holidays.  Not all of the memories are bad, but they are the ones that seem to stand out the most.   A week or two ago, when we were talking about having Christmas at my sister's house, she told me that there would only be eleven of us there.  That number suddenly exploded to seventeen.  Some of the additional six people will be friends of hers, and the remaining ones will be relatives of her son-in-law.  I do not consider myself an antisocial person, but I am not looking forward to spending the better part of a day with this many people.
