The Holidays

To My Husband:
The holidays are catching up with me.  I was doing pretty well, until now.  My heart breaks because you are not here anymore.  I am OK and doing well on my own, but today?  Not a good one and I don't really care.
I guess you feel it silly because I am writing this journal entry.  It helps to get things out, words I can see, so that I don't run screaming.  I am glad the family understands me, for no one else can.
Can't even explain anymore what your passing has done to me.  It is now something that I live with.  I hope you are proud of me for recovering, putting one foot out in front of the other, and continuing to live and enjoy without you.  Still no words other than that is just the way it has to be.
Whenever someone tells me that we will be reunited one day, the feeling is undescribable.  You never left, just the physical sense of you.  As my necklace was inscribed, "I will always be at your side."  I now know why you gave it to me our last Christmas and that you meant every single word.  I too will always be by your side.
So, I hope you can understand why today is not a good day, and it won't be the last one where I spend the day hurting and crying.  I just have too.  That's just the way it is.
With all my heart,
Your wife Debbie

Keep putting one foot infront of each other my friend. That\'s what we do and treasure his spirit in your heart. You ARE always by his side and he is by yours. Sharon
