The hidden addiction
This is my first entry and my request for any and all assistance. I am 27 years old and have a SEVERE gambling addiction. I have known this for a long time, but refused to come to terms. I also held a philosphy "It is not an addiction, unless you lose." Writing that made me even cringe. I know my friends and family must be worried, but they have no clue the amount I am gambling and the highs and lows I have been through. :(
Today, I chased my sports bets like I have done for the last 9 years...I can honestly and sadly say I have gambled in some form everyday except for 5-10 in those 9 years. My nerves are completely shot, I get muscle spasms periodically due to my stressing out games with large amounts of money on the line.
I am very embarrassed and humilitaed. I went to college to study finance and graduated with a double major in fianance and real estate, but yet I have this hidden addiction. I really wish I had people around me where I could just be honest and have them know what I am feeling. I have lost so much money I will never ever be able to break even.
I decided today I am done for good. I need a support group and people I can support and have in my corner as well. I have definately hit rock bottom..financially and emotionally.
