The Healing Process
If there is an aquatic FBI, you can be certain I am on their Most Wanted List. 50,000 brine shrimp reward for information leading to the drowning of this aquatic serial killer! Just this morning I may have added the two black mollies who trustingly swam into my net after watching me kill their 12 siblings in my indoor aquarium. They sit now in traumatized stupor, watching the environment of the very new water garden through the walls of the glass jar I filled with their aquarium water.
they are not the only life forms I have traumatized this week. I have been a busy little traumatizer of life recently. I have aided and abetted the unnatural journies of uncounted plants and insects. My gardening projects are in need of a healing phase. The bees need me to quit messing with their landmarks as they learn their way around the neighborhood they were involuntarily plopped in to two short weeks ago. Recently planted herbs need to rediscover their stationary nature after their sprouting and early nurturing in plant nurseries and their journies to the retail outlets where I bought them. Whether I dump the black mollies into the water garden or carry them back to their aquarium, there is nothing in their nature to help them cope with what I have done to them.
I cannot imagine that any of these life forms understand why this was done to them any better than I understand, "Why me?" I watch them for signs of shock and wonder if they understand their post-traumatic stresses any better than I understand mine. As bees establish their routes to the water garden and drooping leaves raise to the sun, I wonder if any of them can see the grand design which I am asking them to be a part of.
I cannot know and I cannot help but wonder...
