The Good , The Bad and The Unknown....

It has been a short while since I did update and now seems I am overdue.

First--- the GOOD.I have finally bought a new car. I pick it up tomorrow after work (God willing) It is a 2018 Chevy Trax. I rode with a friend in his months ago and liked the size, the head room, and the fact that they are AWD. My 2010HHR was front wheel drive and had horrible traction on hills around here (even with fairly new all weather tires. )  Did not neccessarily need bells and whistles, but it has them and was same price as standard ones with more mileage.  So I am very excited about picking it up.

Now the BAD---  In the past week I have been in contact with 2 who have covid. The first was very considerate and cautious. I went with neighbors to their church last Sunday and am looking forward to going again, but will be virtual for a bit. They drove and we did not wear masks in the car. Have to wear masks til you are seated and they rope off every other row, but I sat between them and all take off masks while in the pews.   A few days later I stopped at their house to drop something off. He was bundled on the couch and stuffy . We did both mention on Sunday having sinus issues so I understood. His wife said pastor and his wife are not feeling well so won't be at church this week. (They were not there last week either as they had the guest pastor and his family.)

The next day when I got home he called to warn me he did test positive and to watch for symptoms. That same day I would learn from coworkers of another who has been coming in every day hacking up a lung. Also there were 3 people who saw her for more than 15 minutes in receiving (open area in our back room that MANY are going through) coughing up flem and puking. They told mgt. Our co manager confronted her and she said she just coughed up some pflem. so  she stayed. Went to be tested CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY ( still with symptoms) worked a half hour shy of her shift and got a call she was positive. So she exposed us all for the better part of the week. There was talk she was coming back MON with a DR note. I called corporate and they assured me they are looking into the whole situation as it was nit handled correctly. Her ass should have been sent home days before. (But she had no fever. Apparently the temp checks don't always help. Also did you knoworiginally we were told  you could work with a temp up to 101? Add the fact we all register usually well under 98.6. Not exactly a safeguard . I am hoping that is now adjusted especially in light of all of this. ) I was told she cannot return til dr clearance plus 24 hrs symptom and fever free (without meds) and they do have the right to override the dr note if they do not trust she is ready.   Her asst shares an office so the next day she spent cleaning and sterilizing the office (and praying that she and her retired hubby with health concerns are NOT now affected) and then was sent to be tested . She had a negative but was told to stay home for a week to be certain . Not so fair if the sick one comes back after 4 days.

I did call mgmt as soon as I heard I was exposed. They said if I am symptom and fever free I can work but just need 2 temp checks a day and be cautious ( which I have)  He also advised me I don't need to say anything to others unless there is an issue. I told him I am concerned as all are very angry and I don't want to be on the HIT LIST.  If I do have any symptom I am to leave and get tested and let them know as soon as I do.

The UNKNOWN---- Yes, this has always been my downfall. After a lifetime of uncertainty and being overloaded with fear of every little thing, I tried to compensate with investigating and assuring the outcome. Yep, you all know how that works out!  (a half hearted grin here)  My plan is to take as it comes and try to pray and have faith that all does happen for a reason.  I do also have to get things caught up as I have been letting them go . Laundry to fold, clean up kitchen and do some cooking  ahead (including a big pot of homemade soup to save me if not up to par.  After that I am snuggling up and riding this out.   Guess I should pop the folic acid and vitamin c I have been ignoring. Old neighbors said that did seem to help soften the blow when they had it last  year.

Will be checking in not sure if more or less (depends how I feel. ) Could use some good thoughts and a prayer or two. I shall keep you all in mine as well.

Kim

PS Neighbors are in their 70s. They had the first covid shot 3 weeks ago tomorrow. Were due for the second booster tomorrow and he got sick last week. Not so encouraging to me.

Adding to the unknown... I worry now about every little cough, tiredness , achiness. I did turn in very early last night. Then woke and came out on recliner as I did have a bit of a coughing spell. Not sure if to worry or not? This is driving me nuts. I don't wanna be a hypochondriac, but also do NOT want to do what that coworker did and put anyone else in this same predicament. Boss did say that if I do go for test before any symptoms I would probably have a negative result anyway. Today is just 7 days from exposure. Symptoms usually come 7 to 10 days in so I am right at the worry point.

Keeping a good thought for you. Have you called your doctor to get advice on whether getting tested or not would make sense?

I think I am going to go later today to a nearby urgent care that does testing. Other places need appts and I am concerned as the cough is picking up. I am to work tomorrow and pick up the car. Not sure that will be happening as planned

Sometmes I think the fear is worse then the disease...........Try to be as calm as possible throughout all of this. Fear can sometimes lower the effectiveness of the immune system. Find strength in your Faith.

We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless

Elderberry and zinc with vitamin D3!!!! I pray you are safe and if you have it, a very light case. We all need good people like you to talk with. I am concerned but the fear is sometimes worse than the illness. I have friends and acquaintances who weathered the illness and they are fine. It takes a while to get back after a virus too. I think in Mom's case, she just gave up from all the other things going on with herself. I know she stated that she was just too tired to fight any longer before she got sick with it.
I'm sure if you are positive, you will be one of the 99.5% who can say you weathered the illness and came out fine. Prayers and take care!!!

Congratulations on the new car, and condolences on the COVID worry. I pray you'll be fine. A friend of mine had it but it was such a mild case it hardly slowed her down at all--if you do get it, I pray that will also be your experience. Meanwhile, here's a site with lots of helpful information on how to protect yourself and strengthen your immune system: https://www.mercola.com/combat-covid.htm May God protect you.

Went early this morning for my test. Will have results in 1 -5 days. (more likely by Wednesday. ) I am taking it easy and doing little so the symptoms are not as bad. Doing what I am supposed to . Will let you all know when I have results and as I weather this whatever it may be. Thank you for the good thoughts and encouragement.
