The Funeral and San Diego,CA

Well, I got back last night from San Diego,CA. San Diego was 75 degrees and sunny and beautiful, thank God. I was sick the whole time I was there and had the freaking fever thing going on that broke my lips and nose into coldsores and fever blisters. Yes I looked beautiful. Lost my voice but some people quite enjoyed that.. har har har.The viewing and funeral went well but I feel so sorry for Jimmy. Rochele was his whole life except his grown daughters and grand children and ofcourse his work. She flew everywhere with him in his plane and kept him company when she could. There place was wonderful with a small golf course that Jimmy had done for Rochele. The house was old Victorian but wonderful with all the flowers and work that she had done. You could see her personality in everything. Jimmy was so sad and really all he could say is that she just didnt look like herself. I guess her neck was broken and her face shattered and they did what they could. I told Al that no matter what happens to me I just dont want an open casket.. It just seems so morbid for people to be looking at you when you are dead and nobody looks like they did when they were alive except maybe my best friend Mary. Her kids had her hair and makeup professionally done and she honestly looked like sleeping beauty. I kept waiting for her to wake up and say "just kiddin". But all in all it was nice to see people that I havent seen for along time and to be with relatives and Jimmy was so happy to have us there.    I did make it to Sea World and to the San Diego Zoo with the help of some codine cough syrup that helped with the Strep throat.. It was a wonderful time and we stayed in a small motel right off the ocean beach which was lucky we even found a place with it being spring break. Made friends with a few drifters and ofcourse gave them money so they could get there next meal or a bottle of what ever. Its not up to me what they do with the money but its something that I do to make my self feel better. The ones that I gave money to were the ones that I had talked to for a couple of days and got to know. One was a 28 year old woman traveling and sleeping on the beach by herself. Her name was Gina.. I thought how scarey it would be to be out on your own sleeping on beaches. She had befriended another couple but there names have slipped my memory. They had a boxer named Kelly though and the gentleman was always kissing and holding  that dog. They told me that they had been working at a hotel and got fired and that the people wouldnt give them their money so they were looking for work. His wife or girlfriend the day we were leaving got a job cleaning the rooms at the little motel where we had stayed. When we were leaving she gave me some roses she had made out of some part of the palm tree leafs. I will cherish them for ever.   Also the best stuff for last.. Still sober.. Trouble the cat had four kittens on Thursday while we were gone but Als daughter in law and my son Dakota came everyday and checked on them and Coco the poodle. Trouble has been such a good little mother and the kitties are the most precious things I have ever seen. Ok maybe not ever but for awhile.. We know have fourteen calves and two of them are twins and I guess that doesnt happen very often. I have missed all my friends and just wanted to remind you all how much you mean to me and how dear each and everyone of you are to me. As I said before remember to always be kind to the people that are dear to your heart as you never know when you might never have the privilidge of seeing them again. I love you all.. This is my story and sticking with it... Y'Vonne

Really nice journal entry. I always love reading what you write, even if it is sad, like about a funeral. But also has about birth in it so nice balance. I am not trying to be some literary critic here, just what I noticed. And you have a very good outlook on things here. As I always feel reading your journal.

Great job on the 27 days!

Hope you are all over the fever, sickness you had. Good luck with the kitties, take care!

27 days sober is good! Most excellant!

I know, I don\'t want an open casket either. *shudders* I remember my own dad\'s funeral and it was like he was sleeping but his chest wasn\'t heaving up and down and his fingers which were usually chubby were flat. I couldn\'t handle it.

I wish I were in So.CA. right now. I am so sick of this pre \'soon to be spring\' cold damp muddy weather.

Take care! and Keep going girl! It is all worth it in the end!

well, if you can stay sober thru that, you deserve a medal and some heavy duty pats on the back! i am glad that there were plenty of good memories left behind, it really does make it easier to go on...but i too will not have an open casket, actually i prefer no funeral. kudos on all the babies, that is so neat to come home to kitties and calves...a rebirth of things...life does go on. i am sick myself and could use some warmth right now, maybe i should go to southern california! nah, it probably wouldn\'t help....big hugs and puppy kisses for you my friend!

Sounds like you had an interesting trip. Sorry to hear you were sick. I\'m with you on the closed casket. I don\'t want anyone looking at me when I\'m dead. I want their last memories of me to be when I was alive. Hope your feeling better and welcome back!

You continue to amaze me. You were able to be supportive not only to your family but strangers as well in spite of being sick. It is not always easy to be so giving when we are in need ourselves.

I will continue to pray for Jimmy, These next days and weeks will be tough for him.

I bet the kittens are cute. They will get cuter in the coming weeks especially when they begin playing with each other. 14 calves wow.

Hang in there. I hope you begin to feel better soon. Maybe being back in your own bed will help. Glad to see you are back. Take Care

I\'m glad you enjoyed your trip.Isn\'t it a shame that we stay so busy with our lives sometimes that we don\'t take the time to do things like the zoo and stuff, until a tragedy happens? I\'m glad you did have fun though.that 28 days is great!
