The freefall: a poem.
Here's a poem I wrote about my day. Beginning to feel a bit better by morning, but undoubtedly feeling depressed by night
Recovery sure takes its time. And is not linear at all.
---‐--‐---
Medication beginning to feel like hope
Still wrestle myself up from the bed
But gain
a small spark of energy,
a taste of motivation
It feels encouraging
But then.
At once I'm tumbling down and down again
The onslaught screams inside my head
I'm a burden nobody really cares
if they did it wouldn't be so hard to see it if they did I wouldn't have to search so hard to believe it
But yet
I do.
Down, down, here we go
But no, I go alone
back down the dark hole that's
become like home
except it's not a home at all
that would be too comfortable
Depression feels like sharp nails
Scraping through my skin on the way down-
the free fall.
