the first infusion

well i had the first infusion of rituximab yesterday....only a tiny glitch, a slight allergic reaction. i had an itchy throat after they increased the dose the first time so i had to take a second dose of benedryl. they give you one before and 2 tylenol....i forgot to ask what the tylenol was for, but i did have a headache later so maybe it was to stop a worse one from starting.
We were up at 5:30 and on the road by 6:30 to be at the hospital by 8:00, made it home around 6:00pm. It was a very long day. I was in bed by 7:00. I think most if it was the benedryl.
My doctor did say my bloodwork is looking more and more like rheumatiod arthritis than scleroderma, not that it really matters at this point, but maybe that means the rituximab will work better because of the change in the bloodwork. i will be back for the second round intwo weeks and the they monitor things for the next several months and see where things stand. i see the respiratory doc in a week or so and i will have to do a pft so I hope to see some changes, even though they say it will take a couple of months to show any results.
So today has been kind of a right off as far as getting anything accomplished, i did vaccum.....that is an interesting feat with the central vac hose and the O2 hose, got myself quite tangled up! I still have a mess all over the dinning room table from cleaning out the linen closet, i have four bags of donations that hubby keeps forgetting to drop off, and then I have to figure out where to put all the stuff that wasnt supposed to be in there in the first place.
My friend is having her 50th birthday part on saturday...looking forward to that, she always does great parties....themes and games and prizes. This is the last one though, she says they are getting to big and she cant hold them at home and she doesnt want to rent a hall every year....last years theme was 'the end', since it was the last party at the house....we all dressed in mourning and had 'funeral food'...it was a hoot!
have to do bloodwork tomorrow, i am finding it easier to get around with the O2 especially with the parking permit....i really didnt want to get it but it does make life easier. Im still waiting for someone to tell me i cant park there....lol

Don\'t be too worried about it. The parking permit is not that big a deal. enjoy it. :-)

I\'m a little late but hope you had a wonderful evening at the party!
Sucks that you have to wait so long to notice the changes but is awesome to have modern medicine.
Take good care and watch those vacumme lines!

I have this visual of you doing the Limbo up under the vacuum hose and getting tangled up and having to do the twist to get yourself out of it. And you are laughing the whole time.

I,too hope you got to enjoy the party. And I don\'t blame your friend a bit. Who wants to have to pay out for their own birthday party.

Peace, Love and Hugs
