The First Day of October
Good Wednesday morning...still too early to see what the weather is outside, but we closed up the house last night during a severe thunderstorm that promised even cooler weather for today.I am back to work at my part time job and still doing Physical Therapy three times a week in hopes of getting this back injury settled down! It's been a very long month in terms of that...I have taken to sleeping on the sofa because it's easier to get up from than our bed which is rather high. I started out in bed last night, because I miss sleeping with the Man of My Dreams. But I had to get up after about 2 hours and was having those dreaded muscle spasms again. Drat!There are so many things to be done around here in preparation for winter...all of it has fallen on Tom's shoulders since I am pretty much out of commission. I have truly been blessed with a willing and able man to share this farm with! What he doesn't know how to do, he is able to figure out or he takes instructions from me without any kind of resentment. My ex hated it when I knew how to do things that he did not -- it was the cause of much "one-upmanship" in our relationship. With Tom, he is always willing to learn something new and he gives me kudos for what I do know.Over the weekend (it was nasty and rainy outdoors) I got out my collection of sea glass which I have gathered during my trips to the Caribbean since 2000. It turns out that Tom has a real affinity for working with jeweler's wire -- his designs are very intricate and with perfect detail. He says this comes from years of working on airplanes...almost every nut, bolt and screw in an airplane is reinforced with safety wire...and now he has found another more artistic way to use this skill. I bought a workstation accessory for my Dremel tool so that I can drill holes in the sea glass for making mobiles and suncatchers. Right now, it's just something I do for my own enjoyment, but I will also make some things for Christmas gifts this year. Tom's wire wrapping is so beautiful...I think we will have some beautiful sea glass necklaces to give to friends, as well. Who knows? This could be the start of a hobby/business to pay for annual trips back to Barbados!Nothing much new here....except that my hot tub went on the fritz on Monday. The repairman is coming today and will probably still be here when I get home from work at noon. Just what I need -- another repair bill! But we just love getting in the hot tub when it's cold outside and we aren't long from cold weather. The horses are starting their winter coats and I wish my back was feeling better so I could spend some time grooming them. Hopefully another week of therapy and will see another marked improvement.
