The Exercise
The Exercise Just a simple exercise to hone your writing skills,You have to answer who would cryIf suddenly you’re killed. It got me thinking of that time the future near or far,I’d have to say that it depends On what is in the stars. If by my own hand would they cry?I’d have to say not much,She was just under so much stress,Remember how she’d get depressed? No, we won’t wonder why. If by some random act of fate,I doubt tears would fall long,You know that’s just the way life is,“She’d want us to be strong. At least she didn’t linger long in vegetative state. If by a lingering illness laid,There’d be no more tears to shed,By then “it’s a relief you see”,We all cried at her bed.In such a state as she was in, she would not want to stay. If by old age in future years,“She lived a long and happy life”And wasn’t she just getting old,And tired of daily strife,No for this life we’ll shed no tears. I just don’t think the tears would fall,Not even as a token,For truth be told, we only cry,When pretty things get broken.
