The evil Ipod
I have to hurry and get out the door for work, but just had to put this down before I "forget" it. This is actually quite laughable, all things considered.
Today is Alexis' 14th birthday. Last night he came home at about 7, took a shower and started getting dressed. When I asked where he was going, he caught an attitude and said "what?! I can't go check my mail?" (His mail is still going to his mother's house even though he hasn't lived there in nearly 20 years!) Normally he works at his shop in the evenings, guess he had nothing to do, so instead of spending it with his family he decided to ride down to his mother's (thank God!) Anyway, as he is getting his shoes on he asks me what I am doing for her birthday. I said, I really didn't have money until I got paid, but we were having cake and ice cream to celebrate and I will take her out when I get paid. He rolled his eyes and kind of gave me that condescending grin--that look that says "look at you...you can't even get your daughter a birthday gift on her birthday--loser." I said, she wants an Ipod touch if you would like to get her one. He asks what that is.
I proceeded to explain to him that all the kids have one, it is awesome (according to the girls) blah blah blah. He said "well then why not just get her a new phone?" I said she doesn't want a phone, besides these do everything a phone can, plus she can listen to music. This then escalates into an actual fight because his phone is better than a stupid Ipod touch, why would he want this damn thing. I'm a fucking idiot and why am I trying to claim that anything is better than his phone!! I couldn't help it, I laughed at him. Seriously, you are mad at me because you feel that I disrespected your fucking phone!!!!!!!! Give me a break. Needless to say, he left and stayed gone for 4 hours and refused to answer his phone. Then he wouldn't eat dinner when he got home because he "didn't feel like it" (i.e. he was pouting). He is still not speaking to me today. All of this because I said his daughter wanted an Ipod and somehow disrespected his incredible phone in the process! Seriously?!
