The end of June 17th, 2008
Good news is I wasn't contacted by my ex. Was surprised that he didn't "rub it in" like he did on our wedding anniversary. Bad news..lost my pom, my "son" in Feb. Have made "friends" with an outside cat that came up the week I got here. He was nothing but bones. I thought he ws a dead cat he was so skinny. Out of all the people around here, I am not a cat person but will not harm them, he took to me. I fed him and as I drank my hot chocolate late at night, sitting outside, I would treat him to a bowl of milk. Not being a cat person, I didn't know how to name him so I asked him what his name was. he told me "Reowl". So that is what I called him. Morning after morning, night after night we would have coffee and milk, hot chocolate and milk. When I couldn't find him, I would walk to the road and "Reowl" for him. A friend of mine said he could see us running in slow motion towards each other with the theme from "Love Story" playing in the background! Anyway, he gained weight. And I loved to see his personality emerge. He was charasmatic, nonchalant, such a sweet cat. Bad news. As I was sitting in the living room, fixing to step outside just to see what he was up to, a neighbor came running up to the door banging on it screaming KAREN..KAREN....REOWL HAS BEEN HIT. I went flying outside to find a group of neighbors surrounding this object wrapped in a towel. Thru the tears, I could see this smokey gray fur. It was Reowl. I immediately went to his head, as I always did and everyone els surrounded his back end anyway. The towel slipped some and I could see a large strip of fur missing and a laseration on his side going up to his back. The very back being hidden by the towel that the neighbors kept pressure on. When I leaned my head down to his and rubbed my face with is, calling his name, he Reowld back at me. Not Reowl. Please. My sister jumped in her vehicle to rush him to the vet. SHe called to me to take Reowl and hold him but I couldn't. I had just watched my Tyko pass. Not Reowl. Please, not again. The neighbor took Reowl in her arms and I had a change of heart and went to the passenger door to take him from her. He was comfortable with me. When I ran up to the door of the vehicle, Reowl looked at me and I put my hands on the side of his head and my face in his. I knew. I saw the life fade from his eyes. My Reowl was gone. My sister took off, with the neighbor still holding my Reowl. I went to the other neighbors and asked who did it. They discribed the car. A few seconds later, the car came from another road to head towards their home. I took off in hot, I MEAN HOT pursuit. 2 men in the car. One saw me and took off running towards the door to his home. The other started to run but I yelled so LOUD HEY HEY..he stopped and started to come towards me. I asked him if he just went down this road. He told me he just came BACK on the other road. I asked again DID YOU LEAVE BY THIS ROAD...he said, the cat..I said yes. How could you do that? In a neighborhood full of kids, in 1/4 block you were flying down that road and had NO reason to be on the wrong side of the road to begin with. He sked what he was supposed to do? I asked him if it was a child would he have left him there also? What about grabbing the cat and rushing him to a vet? Then I did the unthinkable. Not very ladylike I am afraid. I didn't care. With all the crying I was doing, my nose was running and also draining into my throat. I spit in his face. Told him that " I expected that from a man of his caliber. F***ing men. All the good ones are taken and the rest of them are sh*t. ". We buried Reowl in the backyard right by my bedroom window. I have seen this man in his car since but he does not come down this road anymore. How inhumane some people can be. What a sh*tty night.

Oh Karen I am so sorry. So very sorry for your loss.
sorry about your loss hope you get to feeling better soon know what it is like to loose a pet
I wanted to cry when I read that! That is so sad Karen, I cried for weeks when this happened to me. I had 2 stray male cats, the first one was a hit and run also. His brother Sammy was with me for 8 years, just passed away last December. It was very hard to come home without my little greeter waiting for me. I\'ve got 2 ferrets now and enjoy every minute with them. You two had something special, I hope you can find that again with another small creature, when your heart is ready. HUUUUUGGGGGSSSS!
