The Divine Comedy

dante alighieri in his epic poem the divine comedy wrote of the ultimate anti hero a christian knight who before departing on the crusades promised his betrothed to return for her one day untouched and pure. Beatrice (the girl he loves) makes a bet with the devil that he will come back to her as he is her true love.Dante however in his time away breaks every code he ever believed in. He cheats on beatrice orders the slaughter of innocent prisoners until it hits him that what he is doing is wrong. On his return he finds beatrice dead and the devil having taken her to hell. It is here that dante makes his journey into the underworld traversing the nine circles of hell to reach his beloved beatrice. In passing through the nine circles he atones for his mistakes and find forgiveness and ultimately peace. But the thing about the divine comedy is real life doesn't always go the same way people once lost seldom find their way back home; not for want of trying but due to the fact that they are just far too gone to ever return. The idea of atoning for ones sins and the concept of going to hell only for a little while is fundamentally a christian one and I for one do not believe in it.What happens to man after death is unknown to me, I do not claim to know of the mysteries of the great beyond but I do know this in this life for some the suffering never ends; when a mans life goes into a tailspin and he falls in a downward spiral more likely than not he won't stop falling until the time he meets his end. I am not much of a believer but the Quran says that we give them time that they may transgress further and we may prepare a greater torment for them in hell. This is the bitter truth; a harsh reality of life that we all must at some point come to face and accept that some of us are indeed lost with no hope of ever finding our way home.
What the future hold for me what path lies ahead I know not, nor do i know if I shall ever find my way back from whence i fell all I know is Thomas Edison upon his many failures in creating a light bulb said "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." Hence I ttoo shall try one more time

it matters not if we try and fail; and try and fail again...but it matters if we try and fail and fail to try again!
