The Checkered Flag!
Today is my last day of tx. I thought I should say something profound. Deeply moving. Something memorable. Something so important that Larry King will call me for clarification. Hmmm. I wonder what I should say.====(At this point the theme music from Jeopardy is supposed to start...)====OK, I have it. Two really important insights:1. I'm tired.2. HCV sucks.
Besides that the only truly useful thing to say is THANK YOU! Thank you to my wife who put up with another 48 weeks of whining. To my family & friends who stuck with it. To the team at Toronto General who spend their lives looking after guys like us and keep smiling. To the gang at DS, who always encouraged me. And a special group within DS who seemed to always know when things were coming unraveled and found the time to send a little note or a hug. Jk, Kary, gage, karmah, token and marty come to mind but there were many others. And a special thanks to my friend from the Land of Perptual Freaking Sunshine for her spiritual insights and incredible attitude.====After doing the full tx two times, I know that this battle is never over. We have lots of warriors fighting through tx right now (Russ, gage, crab, skitzy ...) and we have lots who are waiting for the next wave (Capn, marty, ptriss...). No matter where you are in the "System", we're still in it together.====To those who know me, you'll not be surprised that I'm going up to the Lake tonight (after I take the call from Larry King, of course)! And God Bless you Jack. You did it...twice...and you did it with class. Enjoy the lake (tell Larry King hi) and feel better SOON!! Give your wife a huge hug from me too...I know what my hubby went through watching me go through TX and it was not fun for him -- the supporters need hugs too. :)
Oh...and I forgot the most important thing: CONGRATULATIONS!!! Your coach is proud of you.
