The case of the Skinny Mirror

Two weeks ago I weighed myself on one of those new scales at the grocery store.  It said I was 15 pounds heavier than I thought.  I figured it was wrong.  Then I thought about it and realized I've been in denial.  I purchased a Fitbit HR and started walking 10,000 steps per day.  On the same day I purchased the scale, also by Fitbit.  The grocery store was accurate.  But now, I'm happy to say that I've lost 5 pounds and learned a lesson: Always weigh yourself.  We fluffy people tend to look at ourselves from the head up.  Some of us even avoid mirrors like we're vampires.  Then add in the fact that stores are using Skinny Mirrors that intentionally lie to us.  These mirrors are made to make us look slimmer.  Go in a store and it's like instant weight loss, but it's not real.  Weigh yourself and discover the truth.
Speaking of which...I was in a clothing store recently trying clothes on and asked if the mirror was a Skinny Mirror.  The staff said they were not sure, which pretty much means it was a Skinny Mirror.

That explains why I'd buy something, try it on, think it looks good, only to find it's terrible once I get home.  How many ugly outfits are in my closet?

I know what you mean. I have so many clothes I will never wear and the older we get the harder it comes off. Sharon

Yep. When I finally got brave enough/ cared enough to step on the scales I found I\'ve put on nearly 30 pounds in the past 12 months!! I knew I\'d put on \"a bit\" but was in shock at the actuality. I\'ve started on a plan to get it off but it will be a long haul.

Boy don\'t I know the feeling ladies. It is so hard to lose weight when your older. My back has been the pitts for the last year so exercise is painful and hard to do. Medications can make you gain weight with no increase in eating. Its frustrating. I am happy you gals have a plan and i wish you success.

I can relate to what everyone is saying. Since my husband passed away, my eating habits have been terrible. He was diabetic so I was careful to cook right, incorporating more veggies and fruit but I have become lazy, grabbing anything - and \'anything\' is usually fattening. i go to Curves 3x a week and take care of my lake home inside and out, but it still isn\'t enough. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Linda
