The care we deserve...

In one of my recent entries, I was in a tizzy over my first appointment with the midwife at my regular OB's office. Well, NOW I finally feel like I'm getting the care I deserve!

Yesterday, I met with one of the actual OBs in the practice, Dr. H, and he was VERY thorough. My husband was just glad the doc acknowledged him & shook his hand (unlike the rude midwife we dealt with 2 weeks ago. Grrrr)! I'm being referred to a team of MFMs who will also oversee my care, in addition to the OB group. We are due to go in for some elective screenings in another week or so (11w), due to my "advanced maternal age." Yep. I still hate that phrase. Just doesn't sound nice! These upcoming tests will include an u/s and I'll have another level 2 u/s at 18w.

In all, I had a pretty boring appointment. I'll take it! Boring = good!!!!! I just had a pelvic exam. Not even a Doppler to check HB (but I guess they're not too concerned since I just had an u/s less than a week ago). Still, it would have been nice to hear a steady, strong heartbeat, seeing as we are planning to tell more family members about the pregnancy at Christmas. Ah, well. I feel really good; so, I'm keeping my chin up and staying positive. I'm only telling my brother, SIL, and favorite aunt & uncle the big news. They're people I'd want to know... even if something with the pregnancy were to go wrong. It's just so hard not to get nervous and superstitious. Why does IF make us feel that we are "jinxed" somehow, or at least bound to be?! Silly. I know.

Much love to you all over the holidays.
