The canal

I went for my walk this morning and the irrigation canal was nearly dried up - just a little bit of water still left sitting on the bottom.  I miss the water.  It's amazing how calming the fertilizer-pesticide-animal feces-infested irrigation canal was for me.
I'm not ready for the cold winter.  There's snow on the mountains already.  So, I just enjoy the fall colors and try to hide from the wind when it comes whipping through.  I walked inside yesterday on the treadmill because it was so windy.
I realized I could have walked outside yesterday.  It would have been like walking on a treadmill if I would have walked against the wind.  Only thing is, the scenery wouldn't have changed much for being outside.
I visited an elderly woman who moved across the country to live with her son here in Idaho.  She lost her husband (had Alzheimer's for 10 years), her daughter to cancer (age 47), and her daughter-in-law to cancer all in the past year.
She said to me with tears, "I ask God:  Why?  Why?  Why take these young people?  I am old.  Take me."
When I asked her what she thought God would say about her, she said with more tears, "He would say:  She was a good person, a good neighbor, four beautiful children..."
I asked her if she thought God knew her heart.  She tearfully shook her head and said, "Yes."
Seasons come and go.  One day there is water in the canal and another day there isn't.  It feels like the snow just melted on the mountains and here it is again.
Yes, Richie, we do the best we can.
In the blink of an eye time passes.
Carry on.

Always great to read your thoughts.
It is ironic what we miss or find comfort in...and hey kudos for exercising regardless of where or how!
I don;t know the why to such questions and maybe we are not meant to know. I do know I am personally exploring those questions myself.

Those are the questions I find it best not to ask...why are some sick and not others?...where is my life going while I dicker with this stupid sickness of mine?

Maybe we have to accept life as it is, not as we wish it could or should be. Life is not about frolicking happily in some endless summer, it\'s about fighting injustice and swallowing bitter draughts of unhappy experiences. Still, it has its moments.

It\'s nice to come home to a warm house after a walk on a windy winter\'s day.
