The budget & getting ready for a wedding
Aloha!
I hope everyone has had a nice 4th of July! We went to Waikiki and stayed a night with some friends in a hotel suite. Had way too much sun! Went out on a catamaran in the middle of the day and the sun was baking us. Got to see a lot of flying fish, though, which I've never actually seen before. They look like they have wings and hover over the water's surface. Pretty cool! After the catamaran we changed into suits and hung out in the pools. Yup got even more sun. My hip was bothering me all weekend so I sat in the hot tub in hopes that it would help. You could say I was pretty cooked by the end of the day.
Tropical storm Ela has been downgraded to a tropical depression. It will bring some muggy weather for the weekend and high surf for the surfers. My husband will probably jump on that opportunity.
We have a wedding to go to Sat. Pastor's daughter is getting married. They went on the same Christian dating site that Jeff and I went on and found each other. lol. They got the idea from us, I guess. That's how my youngest brother met his wife, too. But their marriage is a rough one. They're always in my thoughts and prayers.
Hubby and I did June's budget and realized we went over by $3k! I guess that's what happens when you go on vacation. The bad part is, because Jeff is a teacher he doesn't get paid this month and we have to rely on my pay from the VA alone. He started his summer course but he won't get paid for it till Aug. I praise God we have a savings account, or life wouldn't be possible. We got into an argument about it because we 1st agreed to be thrifty but then he wanted to go out to eat and buy (expensive) cheese cake, etc etc. I tried to stop him. "I can spend what I want, I have some savings!" he said. I blew up at him. Men!!!
I tried to take out the red strip in my hair with color remover, so I can dye the whole thing blue... an idea for Sat wedding. But when I did it and later washed it out, it turned PURPLE. So now I'm stuck with Purple white and blue hair for the wedding! Talk about fail!

Loved this journal. Really jealous of all your beach time! I love listening to the ocean and feeling the sea breeze.
Budgets-ugh! It\'s so hard staying on one, and especially on vacation!
Good Fourth here...lots of fireworks in my neighborhood. My dog Did Not enjoy them though!
