The beginning
I have been battling depression for many years - probably over 10 years. I have tried medications (still on Zoloft), therapy, reading self-help books, strengthening my faith, etc... I have just begun daily prayer to relieve my depression - I am not sure what else to do. I do not want to try a different medicine or increase my dose. I do not have the time or money to start therapy again these days. I am hoping by writing, praying, reflecting, and talking with others, I can gain better control over the depression and maybe even eliminate it all together if that is possible.
My depression interferes with my life because it takes such an effort to do everything. I don't really want to go to work though I don't know what I want to do instead. Life seems so overwhelming and monotonous. Do the same thing every day which feels like it is so solve the latest problem, accept the latest disappointment, and try to remain sane amid chaos. Life feels like it is just too much. I feel tired down to my bones. Not just physically, but emotionally, psychologically, in every way. I am tired of being tired and feeling so run down and used up. I feel like I have no more energy to get excited about things.
I want inner peace, a feeling of calm and contentment. The only time I get this feeling lately for short periods of time is when I am in church and/or praying. I know God will lead me to where I am supposed to be and I think it is time to learn from others who are going through similar feelings. I want to talk to people that I can relate to who will understand what I am going through. Especially women in their forties who are mothers and work full time to understand the feeling of being torn in many directions at all times.
