The begining stages of grieving (my experience)
I remember the first time I went in the grogery store, to get food. I was looking for the stuff Ryan liked to eat. It was the hardest thing I had to do. I walked up & down the Ilses, EVERYTHING I was looking at reminded me of Ryan. All the food Ryan liked, I would pick up, and put it back on the shelve. I did that a couple dozen times. I couldn't look at anybody, I was afraid I would break down fall to the floor, waking up with perametics looking over me. I couldn't get out of the store quick enough. I only got bread & milk. As I was driving down the road everywhere I looked was unreal looking, everything swaying, as though life was going on without me, and I had to exist, all I could do is scream and cry. I couldn't see anything but Ryan, my life was over. everywhere I looked, I'd see a white car like his, Boy's of all ages flashing through my head, children with their moms & dads, teenagers playing sports, baby's in their strollers, OOOH ! How I hated seeing life go on, without Ryan. The FEAR of living without him was so frightening, I wanted to die, but didn't know how to..This was just the begining stages of the grieving.. The journey has just begun...Hang in there!

Yes, the beginning is so very hard...... I made it only because as I was feeling no hope, moms here were showing me there was hope. Just as you are doing for so many. I\'ve lain in the floor of the grocery store as well as a store in the mall. Yes, the beginning is so very hard..... Love you my friend, Teri.
Thank you for sharing your story; that\'s exactly how I\'m feeling. Life just seems so worthless right now. I\'m consumed with pain, tears and sorrow.
hope and prayers are being sent to you for peace... it does get better, not by leaps and bounds but by inches, sometimes quarter of inches... not by days but by seconeds... but the result is that it does get better...
the beginning is trauma, shock. it wreaks havoc with your brain. everything is off. the \'fight or flee\' syndrome kicks in. after 3 yrs now, I just have an everyday deep hole of pain but I ask my son, every day, to get me thru another one. I know he is my strength now to function. the one thing I am happy about is that there is a one way ticket out of here someday.
I remember that painful begining...There were plent a time I had meltdowns at the grocery store. I even followed young men around that resembled Richard and wore his cologne...I no longer stalk people and for that society is grateful :-). Hugs, Inga
That\'s exactly how I felt. The grocery store was so painful - the cereal aisle especially, Doug was a big cereal eater. I even stopped cooking for months (Matt was not living at home at the time) because it was too painful to cook and not have supper with Doug or make up a plate for him if he wasn\'t home. Now that Matt is living at home he does my food shopping, so that\'s one less thing I have to deal with. I ache so much to have him back, at times I just want to be with him but I\'ve got to stay here for Matt. Take care, Sue
The hardest part..going on without him. Watching everyone..going on without him. :(
Thank you for sharing. i have had many days like that. It is so hard to watch life go on as if nothing happened and for us life is forever changed. We walk and breathe with broken hearts and spirits. Wendy

Oh how I remember how hard it was to grocery shop. How hard it was to drive past the baseball fields........how hard it all was and sometimes still is. But it is a little lighter now than a year ago. Thanks for sharing.....Hugs, Kim
It is one rough road we are on, for sure. I have not been able to go back to chipotles restaurant ever since Michael died. He and his g/f loved it so much. But it has gotten easier to deal with. Love, B
I remember those feelings well. Nothing made sense. My safe little world had fallen apart. Even now almost 4 years later I see a car like Courtney\'s and my stomach drops for a second. Love to you, Mary Kay
