Thar' She Flows

I have been one stillin' fool this past few days. The new water distiller brews about 8 gallons of water a day, if you ride herd on it all 24 hours of the day. I worked the process, but not too fanatically. It enjoyed some idle time awaiting refills and emptying. I guess it took me about three days to fill the 20 gallon tank on the Tower Garden. It is still not quite full, but it is sitting on carpet. For this step, I thought it would be better to err on the dry side. The distiller is still stilling in case I need more. If I don't need more for the Tower Garden, I'll use it for household purposes.

I spent this morning mixing nutrients, balancing the PH and setting the pump timer. She's on her first independent run now, as I type. For now, the vicks plants are the only plants set in the plant cups. The lettuce is sprouted and not too far from ready to join the melee. I find myself sighing mournfully at the absence of herbs. Here I am at the first real season change I have experienced in 40 odd years without any of my preferred flu and cold remedies. Sub-arctic, it ain't, but still. . . I find myself nervous on how my system will handle a real winter. There are only two seasons in the sub-tropics: Summer and August. A "hard winter" is where it is hot and dusty on New Year's Eve. Droughts are slow killers.

my favorite winter wear for the out doors is made from thinsilate , not sure of spelling but the coat I have is light weight and really warm but I don't get to hot in the stores.
I have never grown herbs in any season so all I can offer is my best wishes for luck with them.
