THANKSGIVING - MY STYLE
OK, last T-day was a nightmare, even wearing my "happy" apron which helps my mood in most occassions. ANYWAY, hubby kept adding 1 more item to the dinner menu and it was all I could do to do the basics.
Well, he wanted to add my "homemade baked beans". Thru gritted teeth, I began them. As I continued cooking, I checked the beans in the crock and guess what.....IT EXPLODED ALL OVER MY KITCHEN!!! I remained calm and just left all the explosion where it was. Why not? It was too hot to clean up so I began peeling potatoes.
Hubby came in, saw the explosion and freaked. WHAT HAPPENED? I explained. He said, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I stated, I can't clean up the bean explosion because it's too hot so I'm doing potatoes until it cools & I can clean.(I didn't say DUH! but I sure thought it.)
Then he decided we "needed" deviled eggs. I lost it. I think at this point, I was due a losing it episode. Yes? I said no & he went to sit in his chair.
I stepped into the living room in my full regale of my "happy apron" with hand on hip and large stirring spoon in hand. He said Well, you hate cooking anyway. WRONG WORDS I explained to him if he would set down, shut up and let me do Thanksgiving day my way, I could pull it off. My health isn't good and each year it gets harded to do all this crap. Thanksgiving should be the turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, pie, and bread. If I keep it simple like that, I can do it. He didn't have a reply so Thanksgiving this year WILL BE MY WAY! Happy apron included.
