Thanksgiving in Yorkshire!

Hello there just a little update on us, and a wish that you all had wonderful Thanksgivings - we don't celebrate it here, but we both felt that we had much to be thankful for on Thursday! That was our appointment at Christie's in Manchester. And what a place it is. For the first time I feel that D is under the care of someone who knows exactly what they're talking about, who had done their homework, and, was, simply, kind. His appointment was 3 hours long, a full history was taken (this never happened at York), and 'Amelie' (all first names at Christie's! she's part of Professor Hawkin's team - and, they only deal in RCC, which is great) is going to review everything this coming week, with a view to getting D started on a trial next week - randomised, either Nexavar or Torisel. I have a preference, but I wish I didn't...so won't dwell on that one! She did also say that she wasn't convinced that he should have come off the Sutent, and that often with bone tumours they get a bit worse before they get better, especially after radiotherapy, so the first thing she was going to do was get all the scans from York and check that the Sutent really was ineffective, as his other tumours had remained stable. If he doesn't get on the trial, she will help us apply for funding to get Afinitor - but suggests that, if possible, we leave that option till after the trial stops working/proves ineffective. Sorry, this is all pernickety detail, and rather unecessary to put here! The main thing was, she just inspired so much confidence in us. She thought that D was in great shape, and that there's a long long road still to travel. God willing she's right. So, we finally feel that we have a good guy on our side!  Still waiting though.....such a journey of highs and lows and ups and downs, peaks and troughs.....I know it's best to stay on an even keel (certainly a bit less tiring), but developments tend to make me either really excited, or utterly miserable - hard to find a happy medium sometimes. I have a week full of music ahead - starting with a choir concert tomorrow, and then something, either practice or performance, every day till next Sunday - hmmm, guess the season! Well, it keeps us busy....a good thing - not too much time to dwell, and stew, and think too much.  With warmest wishes to all of you, and thank you for reading my waffle!
