Thanksgiving??
Dearest,
Slept late today. Got up to get some things done, determined to get a lot of inside chores behind me I started laundry, cleaned the kitchen, made the bed, why am I making the bed? Who's going to see it? Only me and I don't care, I wonder why I'm doing it, habit? Since I'd made up my mind to work inside I of course spent almost all day working outside. Gutters are done, AC is set for the winter, vegetable garden is set, I burned off all the brush that the recent storms blew down, and restacked your compost pile, since I didn't harvest any compost this year it's quite high, over 6 foot. At one point I was inside and the radio station played Alice's Restaurant. They were playing it at 6:00. 12:00, and 6:00. I didn't know that. I sat for a half hour listening and remembering. Your tradition of always listening to it on Thanksgiving made me smile, my own memories of it which predate you made me smile too. It was sad but sweet and did not make me cry. After it got dark on me I came in and started to collect all your "ladies" things to take to Kristin. I found a tiny pretty bottle in your side table, unmarked, filled with a clear liquid. I uncapped it to smell -------blam-----------------------------------------------Your perfume-------------------Blam-- I smelled you everywhere. Tears everywhere! Then Alice's Restaurant came on the radio again. I was already sobbing and then I became a wreck. My throat still hurts, feels like I can't swallow.
I found another drawer full of your clothes, I haven't done anything with any of your clothes yet. Tomorrow I'll collect garbage around here, Robin said to just throw all the undies out, that will be traumatic. I'm still recovering from today's trauma.
Saturday, I'm going to the lumber yard, don't worry, I'll be good, I promise, I need to get the wood for the kitchen project. No, I don't have enough in the shed, I have some, but not enough.
The button came off my slacks, the ones I like so much that you were surprised that I liked, the Calvin Kleins. I sew it on, it falls off, I sew it on, it falls off. I'm not a good sewer. I can build rooms but I can't fix my slacks. Can you help me?
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant Walk right in it's around the back Just a half a mile from the railroad track You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
For you dear, till we meet again, Your Ken

You made me smile, at the thought of Alice\'s Restaurant. We loved that movie, have on VHS. We tried to get the grandkids to like it, but it\'s too old for them. I\'ve tried to get them to like \"The Point\" also. Do you remember that one? I guess we all have to remember the good and the bad memories.
Wishing you more of the good memories.
Ken, It sounds like you are doing better. Just the fact tht you could listen to Alices Restsurant and have good memories about it means a lot. I am sorry that you had to have a breakdown later but that is also part of the grieving process. Just some little thing can set you into a rage of tears when you least expect it. Abby was a lucky woman to have you for her husband so keep remembering the good times and the bad ones will get less and less. Diane
