Thank you for your support

To all my DS and FMO friends,
Thank you for all the hugs and candles lit for Ed on his angel date as well as the uplifting comments on my last journal entry. I made it through most of Thursday at the inservice training. I went for a walk when there was a session on father involvement. It was a video and the background music was Josh Groban's, "You lift me up". Too close to home so out I went for a walk and came back & finished the day.
That night we gathered together for dinner, looked at pictures, laughed and cried. I had work the next day and was very tired after going to the cemetery Wednesday night, staying up late cooking, then the next day being Ed's angel but got through the remainder of the inservice training on Friday without a meltdown so that's always good.
I would like to thank all of you individually but to be honest, I just do not have the energy. I feel wiped out. Many of Ed's friends posted lovely tributes to Ed on Facebook as well as my DIL's family. Makes me feel good to know how much his friends loved and still love him.
My so called family, "mother" and "brother" never called or acknowledged his angel date. They never do and I know they will not acknowledge his birthday which is also in September. In fact, I call my "mother" once a week since she is elderly. This week I called her on Friday and she never even mentioned my son. I should be used to it. But it makes me appreciate the kind words and the hugs, lit candles that all of you sent even more. I know Ed will never be forgotten here and it means so much.

Ed is never forgotten and how lovely for him to be remembered as he has been. Just does a mother\'s heart such good to have others share what they love and remember about our children.

Hoping you could take a little time this weekend to pause as it is a wipe out and you had so much happening on all levels. You did it dear Linda and I\'m so very sorry that your mother and brother did not remember.

Take care dearest of friends and I certainly had both Ed and his forever mom in my heart.

Much love,
XO Joanie

I was just saying the same thing: siblings never mentioned my loss, I guess it\'s fear? none of the cousins either, except for one who has lost a grandchild. People just don\'t know, unless, unfortunately, they\'ve experienced it. Funny, isn\'t it? Total lack of empathy. Elephants do more.

Glad the training is over, and hope Ed\'s b\'day is more peaceful for you. We have the same thing, just a few days between the b\'day and the angel day. Hard days. Love, Abby

Angel days are never easy. No need to say individual thank yous. We know how exhausting it is.
I like to think that we choose our friends; we are stuck with our families.
Have a good week. Be thankful you aren\'t in Calgary - it is supposed to snow!
Love and hugs,
Marlene

I understand the pain of family not acknowledging our child\'s special days. It hurts when they won\'t even mentioned their name. But it makes it even sweeter when someone does respond with empathy.
Much love to you Linda & lots of hugs. We will never forget your precious Ed.

Dear LindaE, I\'m sorry I missed Ed\'s angel date--I haven\'t been checking in often enough. But, belatedly, I send you and dearest Ed my love and support. Jon\'s comes up in a couple of weeks and I will be thinking not just of him but of all the sons and daughters we have lost and all the mothers who grieve. It really does help to know we aren\'t alone and that our spiritual sisters understand, even when our immediate family members don\'t. I do think of you often, Linda, Eddie\'s mom, and my heart is with you.

My family is the same way...every once in a great while one of them might mention Billy\'s name. Glad you made it through the day in one piece. Hugs, Ann

I\'m late as usual. Sometimes I just have a hard time keeping up and keeping track of things, but all my sisters and their (our) wonderful children are always on my mind. Sending you love and hugs a few days late, but with no less sincerity for being late...love you...Lynn
