Thank you all for your advice, it means the world to me and to Debbie too. To answer a few questions that were posed...Debbie and her SIL had a great relationship before passed...they did all the normal things that grandparents do with their families...Debbie was highly involved with the schooling of her grandchildren because of Amanda's illness....she put those children first along with Amanda and her husband....she would go to their house early in the morning and help Amanda get all of them ready for school, feed them, dress them and take them to school...she was very active in all their school and home events...she even made a special get-away for Amanda and Cory's wedding anniversary, I only know because I helped her with that event....hotel with a hot tub, chocolates, fine dining at a steak house....that was their last anniversary together...
I do know that Debbie is in a highly emotional state right now and between the two of them they have said things to each other in the heat of their grief that will need mending...but I also do not understand how Cory can be so angry over Debbies actions....
I did speak to her about the time issue and explained to her that maybe as time goes by he will realize the mistake he is making by alienating the children from their grandmother....she is praying that it happens soon.
Either way...at some point in time the children will seek her out no matter...but that might not happen right away....it is just so frustrating for her because she so wants to comfort them and we all know that they want to be comforted by her.
