Thank you
Thank you for all the birthday wishes! It is hard to have birthdays when we know our children were taken before their time. My neighbours came for dinner on the 4th and we had a lovely time. On the 5th, my actual birthday, I vegged. Was in my nightie all day and was content.
As I said in my last journal, I am thinking about the future and what I want to do with the rest of my life.
I am 72 now so I am feeling older. I don't mind getting older but am not happy with the aches and pains that accompany aging!
I have decided that I am giving up Facebook except for checking for baby photos. I find it just agitates me and I spend far too much time on it. Joe will continue to post photos. If it looks like I am on, it will probably be Joe.
I think I am burnt out. I have been doing a lot of stuff in the community and I need to just be for awhile. I still want to contribute but I am not quite sure how yet.
On the upside, I guess.... Joe and I will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in January. We went on a winter European honeymoon. We are going to do Europe again but we are going in the summer. I recall my teeth chattering in Paris, and deep snow in Switzerland! The summer is much more pleasant! We are discussing where we want to go. I want to go back to Prague and visit Poland. Joe wants to tour the tiny countries like Andorra and Lichtenstein. I am okay doing all of it. We have a lot of time to come to a consensus!
Enough navel gazing!
Cevyn has started school at the local college. She is doing what she loves - aethetics (? spelling). It is quite a comprehensive course. She is lucky with child care. Brendan's mom and Cevyn's step mom are taking turns looking after the twins when she is at school.
Brendan will finish his welding course in December. Let's hope he finds a jobe quickly. He is very shy so it is painful for him to go to interviews.
Lisa: I wish it were you rather than Beth looking after your beautiful granddaughters. I miss you always and love you forever, Mummy

I really will miss you on Facebook. I may not write a lot but just having some moms on my FB has been great. I do understand. I went off for about a month. With my feet pain, I am not able to really see many people and with this site, I wish it had not changed. I also don't come here often as at times I felt well I shouldn't say just leave it that way Take care friend. Isn't it hard to believe the time that has passed since Lisa and Ken left us? I am 70now and wonder where the last 7 plus years have gone when we couldn't hardly take a step. I know at times I still don't know but I guess life goes on. Take care my friend. Sandi
Hi Marlene, it sounds like your birthday was gentle. I know what you mean about birthdays when one's child has passed. Such mixed emotions. ♡
50 years for you and Joe! That is truly something to celebrate! A trip sounds like a wonderful idea!
One of former coworkers used to say "Aging is not for the faint of heart." I'm with you...I don't mind getting older but really am sick of not feeling well. In my mind I'm still twenty-five, lol.
I understand about FB. Sometimes I don't go on for weeks. I get sick of it. But I do like how it helps me stay connected too. I think I have a love/hate relationship with it!
Good for Ceyvn & Brendan. It can't be easy to pursue an education while parenting little ones. I give them a lot of credit. I am glad they have help with childcare. I take care of my grandson's two toddlers while he & his wife go to school and work. I so wish Lisa and Eddie had had the opportunity to enjoy being grandparents. Not fair! But at least we are an emotional support for our grandchildren. It helps me to feel that Ed is pleased with what I do for his children since he's not physically here. You're such a wonderful Grandmum to Ceyvn. It's a beautiful way to honor dear Lisa.
Hugs...Linda
I'm glad that your birthday was a happy one and I find them to be a time of reflection for me too. It is humbling to age, yet we're all doing it together as my cute mom used to say. :)
What fun to begin planning your 50th and that is something! I know how much you two adore to travel so the planning will be exciting to do.
Way to go to those young parents pursuing school and furthering their educations. It always opens doors and it takes a village to raise these wee ones, I know. How I wish Lisa were there to open her arms and heart to them.
Time to BE is vital for me and I find if I feel stretched too thin in too many places I'm not a happy camper. We must be discerning in this time of our lives as to how where and how our energy is given.
Big hugs to Lisa's mum from Douglas and me dearest Marlene!
XO Joanie
It sounds like you had the perfect day in your nightie!! Those times I love and are so needed as we are sometimes here, there and everywhere. As I get older, I know I keep saying, where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday I was 30 with a couple of broken ribs because I had too much wine and fell in the bathtub, sad because I was turning 30.....REALLY????? Yep, that was me.....SIGH
What a blessing those babies are!! It is great that Cevyn and her hubby are in school, planning a future to take care of their family. I wish Lisa were here too! to marvel and hug and just love on those babies.!!!!
Paris sounds awesome!! I have never been to Europe, so I will live that trip through your eyes!!.
Take good care of yourself, Marlene. Hugs to Lisa's mum, from Jennifer's mom.
Just want to say hello... Wishing you blessed moments. Hugs Elissa and Richard
