I want to thank everybody who sent their thoughts and prayers out for my Mom and the motorcyclist in the accident. You people are just amazing....how I love you all! My Mom seems to be doing OK. She is bruized and sore, but nothing serious. The motorcyclist is in critical condition, but seems to improving, he is off the respirator. The motorcycle he was riding was borrowed from another guy, and neither one of them had insurance! I am just overwhelmed with the irresponsibility of this, but then, being a compulsive gambler has meant I myself have behaved irresponsibly at times. I don't know this guy's story....but I am relieved they think he will make it. I'm hoping my Mom's insurance carrier won't cancel her. Even though it was established she was not at fault in any way, the fact her carrier will have to carry the cost for her car worries me....I don't know if her insurance carrier will try to collect from the motorcyclist or what. Does anyone know how that works???? Anyway.....thanks again for the love and support....I'm sending it right back out at you.Much Love, Big Hugs, Dianne

I am so happy your Mom and the motorcyclist are doing better. Wow I am not sure how the insurance would work in this case, I would think your mom\'s insurance would have to pay. I know on my vehicles I have something called uninsured motorist that covers in case something like this happens. Hopefully they will take care of it for her. Have a good weekend.

Dianne - how it works is the insurance company will try to sue the other driver for the cost of repairs of your Mum\'s car. I have had this happen when I was in a wreck and the fellow that crashed into me wasn\'t insured. My company took him to court. It can get quite messy. When your mum is ready tell her this. BUT it is still not her fault and she will have nothing to pay - perhaps the excess as first but then the company might sue for this too.
This is how it works in Aus and NZ. I thought it was illegal not to have insurance in the states?? Glad to hear though that your Mum and the motorcyclist is on the mend. Hugs and love Suzi
Dianne, I am so happy to hear that your mom is okay and that it looks like the motorcyclist will make it. What an awful experience for her to go through. How are you dear friend? I sure hope you are getting some rest and relaxation. You know, I have always been very impressed with how hard you work, but now after returning to full time work myself....I can\'t imagine how you get so many things done! I swear all I do lately is work and sleep! Take some time out for yourself if you can....you deserve it!

Hi Diane, Very happy to hear your mom is doing better and the other driver seems to be improving. I think Suzi is right, your mom\'s insurance will cover her expenses, then will sue the other driver to recoup their losses. Your mom should not be responsible for anything.
So glad to hear they are both doing better. As for the uninsured motorist, well I was hit by one several years ago. I had to pay a deductible to get my car fixed. They said they would sue the guy and if they ever got their money I would get my deductible back. It has been about 10 years now, and I have never seen a cent. Hopefully your mom\'s coverage is better than mine. But I don\'t think legally they can drop her when she wasn\'t at fault. As long as she had good coverage. Try to have a nice, restful weekend. You do deserve a stress-free time.

Glad to hear your mom is better and the other person is improving as well... what an ordeal for your mom and I\'m sure she will be happy when it is over with. Like the others have said, your mom\'s insurance company should pay for it all and then try to recoup; at least that\'s what I\'m familiar with. Yes, it is very hard to believe the irresponsibility out there, but again - I know what you mean though, we (CG\'s) :] can\'t cast stones; I was very irresponsible ,many many times... Oh no, the motorcyclist didn\'t have ins! Wow, that\'s crazy! Insanity on two wheels! But I can understand irresponsibly myself, that feeling of nothing terrible could actually happen to me, as if I am invincible. People are not invincible. I\'m glad to hear the motorcyclist is improving and that your mom is doing okay. You know how I feel about okay...okay is good :) Little by little she will feel okay-er and okay-er! Love you, Robin

Glad to hear you Mom is getting better, and I hope the guy continues to improve. I don\'t understand how people can drive around with no insurance, here they pull the tags off (license plates)if you get caught straight to jail. but what get me is people still drive around with no insurance. I hope all works out and your mom has no out of pocket expenses. I will continue to pray for your family & his.
