Thanks
I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the wonderful Birthday wishes, even with the terrible news about Inka you all took a moment for me. I appreciate it so much. I had dinner with my son and DIL and of course the kids. Christian wrote his own name on the Birthday card. I will treasure that. He now also is riding his two wheeler without the training wheels. And of course Heidi is so precious. We are going out to dinner with my daughter and SIL Sat. night for my Birthday also.
Oh! In TX your driver's license expires on your Birthday. I was able to mail in my renewal the last two times, which makes it about 12 years since I actually had to go to the DPS to renew. I guess after that amount of time they want a new picture. So I went yesterday and spent 3 hours there. Whew! Anyway, it is done now.
Just a few words about Inka. She was one of the first people I met here on DS, in Sept of '07. I was just starting chemo and she just found out about her recurrance. She had been through it before so she helped me through it. She used to journal every day and she would post a picture of the sunrise from her cottage. She also would post her poems and artwork. It was a joy to open up my computer to see what Inka was up to. She journaled about her family and her history. She was so open. Then there were the adventures with Ela. She had such a way with words that she brought you right in there with her. She was a rock for all of us. She will be sorely missed.
Love to all of you,
Anita

Glad you enjoyed your birthday!!
Inka was a wealth of information and was so active on DS. When I first showed up here in Dec 2008 she asked me a lot of pointed questions. I didn\'t know the answer to half of them so I made a special appointment with my oncologist and he was amazed. I forget what it was now but I learned more about experimental trials etc. He told me not to try and figure it all out which (for me) was sound advice. But, Inka liked to understand all the intricacies. She researched for everyone which I found amazing. She gave so very much of herself not just here but in her life to her kids, art, friends etc. She was an extraordinary person - Buddhist I believe - extraordinarily insightful path. I\'m still playing Neil Young and will for a long while. xxoo
I often told her that with all the information she has learned she could become a gyn/onc. She had a wealth of knowledge.
I forgot to mention in my journal, one of the funniets things. Before she started chemo, she had a hair shaving party with her daughters, and her friends. She posted clips of it. It was too funny. Unfortunatley I don\'t think it is in her photos anymore. It was a real treat.
Dear Anita! I am so happy that you enjoyed your birthday, even if you had to spend three hours at the DVD. We\'re fortunate that we are still able to renew by mail. I fear that won\'t last for long. Like TX they will probably require a new photo and eye test soon. How sweet that Christian was able to write his name on your card! And it is such a milestone when they are riding a bike without training wheels. I can remember Hailey how wobbly she was, but how excited she was. She loves riding bikes in her neighborhood with the other kids.
Yes, Inka will be sorely missed, but what great memories we all have of her. You have been a great encourager to everyone too. Just the fact that you have beaten OVCA for such a long time is an inspiration to us all. And you always have such an encouraging word for everyone too. And you heart is so evident to me the way you care so much about everyone on DS. It is greatly appreciated! Have a wonderful birthday on Saturday night too. Don\'t you love it when your birthday stretches for so long! Love, XOX Susan
thanks, anita for your inka stories-since i\'m more of a \"newcomer\" to the site, i didn\'t know her \'years ago\'. You are a true inspiration for all of us, esp taking time to write on this site and inspire us all-i truly thank you and i\'m glad you had such a nice birthday celebration-joanne xxx
Gotta love having a birthday week of celebration. Sounds like there is more celebrating to come and how wonderful. I am feeling so blessed that you are doing so well and your love and light is so much appreciated:~) Isn\'t it crazy how fast our grandchildren seem to grow and change. I can\'t believe Christian is riding a bike without training wheels. Kayla is going potty on the potty chair and it seems like just yesterday she was in my arms taking bottles.
We are all gonna miss Inka so much but I agree that she wouldn\'t want us being sad and distant. She would want us all to embrace one another and continue supporting each other. After Lindamae I put up a huge wall to protect my heart and that was wrong. Thank you for reaching out to me and so much love to you.
Hi Anita, Continue to enjoy your birthday - I love it when they last for several days. Have a great time with the kids. My 5 year-old grandsons are writing their names with varying degrees of success. I think my 3 and a half year-old granddaughter does the best job but I won\'t tell the boys\' mothers.
I agree with what Beth said about hugging each other. It\'s too bad that in the virtual environment that we can\'t simply give each other an embrace. But (((HUGS))) to all anyway. Love, Janet
Hi Anita, Belated birthday wishes - at least I made it before the final celebration! Enjoy every moment....
New driver\'s license photos aren\'t such a bad idea. People look at me a little funny - my shoulder-length strength blond hair in the picture is now short, gray, and a little curly.
